anybody know how to do this? i thought i knew it all and went ahead and did large area at a time.. in semi sunlight. it baked on and looks worse than the oxidized paint i was trying to hide. only thing i can think of is elbow grease.
noticed that if i goto the beach and put on a little sweat, kinda comes off easier.. now i have little shiny circles and the hood 1/3rd done. lol
might mix up some salt water tommorrow and test.

You can also take the very fine polishing compound. Ie, the stuff you hand polish with. That will take off the buffing compound. Just dont let that bake in too.
The only thing that dissolves it is more rubbing compound. If the finer grade compound is made of the same stuff, that would be better. You won't have to rub hard if you soften what's already there. Sometimes a detailing spray will work.
what were you thinking? ;)

Its coming off wiith the polishing compound, or hiding it real well..
actually i thought it was scratching my paint, started removing it after the first few passes over. still have to really get at it .. but im happy - 'preciate the info
ha. was thinking it worked like car wax or even a polish.. no sir ree, that crap dried on faster than i went to get some more on my rag. turned a cakey white too lol -- just horrible, ill try to post a split shot when i get one side done

Try some "finer compound" or an agressive polish. DO THIS IN THE SHADE! Never work on your paint in the sun.
You can also use 50:50 isiprobal alhocal and water. Mist it on the remaining compund and it should help remove it. OR try "Dawn" dishsoap. Put a suirt or two in a bucket and wash the area.
You will need to use a polish to remove the final "minor scratches".
I like 1Z Ultra Paint Polish. (http://store.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/clink?autopia+yc5RwM+1z-930606.html)
Then follow up with threiPaint Polish (http://store.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/clink?autopia+yc5RwM+1z-930306.html) They both work very well by hand. NO need for a buffer! Then top it off with your favorite wax or dealant.
Please post some before and after pictures of the progress!!!!
