This is bad, please help me. I have a 1997 Seville STS with 197,000 miles on it. The car worked great, just replaced two motor mounts a week ago. I was just driving the car and I noticed an electrical burning smell. I watched the displays of the AC/Heater control and the HUD/DIC fade away and disappear. The smoke smell stopped shortly after. The AC/Heater control smells of smoke, but the cluster smells fine. The car will not start, I hear a relay trigger when I try to turn the key, but the car will not crank or enable the starter selenoid. There are three connectors on the top of my gauge cluster and the cluster fuse blows only when the middle one is plugged in. The power locks, headlight control, fog lights, sunroof, console trunk/gas release, ac/heat control will not function anymore. I removed the AC/Heater control and nothing was corrected. Please help me. I dont know if this has destroyed the whole computer system/electrical system or if its an isolated problem with the cluster/dash wiring.

Hey, I just found that if I hook up everything in the car except the middle connector on the gauge cluster no fuses will pop and the climate control system (although has no display) will operate the relays. I still cannot start the car, but I think it has something to do with the gauge cluster. As soon as I hook up the gauge cluster again the cluster fuse pops instantly. Does anyone have a spare gauge cluster for a 1997 Seville STS? Will a gauge cluster from another year work in the car (like a 99)? I am curious to know if anyone agrees that the problem seems to be in the gauge cluster and if anyone knows how many things the gauge cluster effects. Thanks again.
