Hmmm... Pretty self explanatory. Sometimes they come on, sometimes they don't. It's getting annoying backing up and not being able to see what's there. My girlfriend has a lot of cats, and I really don't wanna back over one. Any thoughts?

Get some huge rear PIAA lights and mount them to your back bumper. Also a plus for tailgaters.

Check the light bulb sockets for corrosion/rust and/or dirt, etc. If thats not the problem the only thing I would know would be screwed up is the switch mounted on the steering column that kicks the reverse lights on when you put the trans. in reverse.

yeah it's most likely the switch on the steering column. try this: put the car in reverse, then if the lights don't come on, without giving the car gas, in fact with the engine off, move the shift lever up (toward the park position) slowly. see if they come on right before it goes from "REVERSE" into "PARK". if it does, you've got the same problem as me, and replacing the sensor will fix it :)

Hmmm... I was hoping it would be a relay problem or a fuse. Well, they come on after what seems like 3 or 4 shifts. I know if I'm doing a turn around manuver in a narrow driveway, meaning lots of F,R,F,R,F,R, once during one of those R's I'll see the lights. It's not like they come on and fizzle out, they'll come on, stay on, until I shift out of R. Then they're nowhere to be seen until another random shift.
