: My first 1/4 mile results

Yesterday I took my 2009 automatic V to the track for the first time.
It was a cold +5 deg C (41 deg F) and windy day.
My car is bone stock no mods whatsoever.
Traction was definitely an issue.
The truck had no “glue” and was not well prepared after the winter.
My best numbers were:
ET = 12.530
MPH= 118.39
60 ft = 2.189
I was not happy with the ET but surprised with 118 mph.
Now that I have established a base line the fun with mods can begin.
Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

Not a bad ET considering the 60' though...

Better than I would've expected, for sure...

Nice job, you did better than I did! Then again, I'm a noob, it doesn't take much to cream my ET.

Engine loves 41 degrees. Tires do not.

Ted... Got the V last week (thursday), had the corsa installed, waiting for Wait4me to send me the tunes (I've asked for max perf. + trans. tune, max perf. + trans. + axleback and the last tune is a track tune, max perf. + trans. + axleback). Let me know when you want to come by and hear the Corsa sport.

I think that my first mod will be to get DR tires to improve the 60ft times.
I'm looking through the forum posts to decide what size will fit best with out having to change the rear wheels.

Tedboss1,

I see you are out of Montreal. Are you running at Napierville?

Only ~150km so far but as soon as I hit a few more hundred km's, i'll be out to Napi...

OK, don't get excited or shoot the messenger if your #'s are not exactly correct. I have had to round off and add zeros after the decimal point to get everything readable. Rounded off to nearest tenth.

What were you running for tires - Michelins or Winter/snows. I have found my Sottos hook up alot better in 40 degree weather than the Michelins do. I have a bone stock 6M, it would be fun to run same day/same track - stock 6A vs. 6M to compare. It sounds like you have mod fever so that would have to be soon though! I am in Vermont, less than an hour from Napierville.

Doing a bone stock dyno run prior to having your mods done would not only give you guys a good baseline for RWHP & RWTQ 's, it would give me a couple of more data sets to add to the bone stock RWHP & RWTQ charts. It would also give you guys good tie-in #'s for comparisons sake between Dyno RWHP & RWTQ #'s and actual 1/4 mile times, something that no one else has posted yet.

Thanks Gary. Seems 12.1-12.3 from the few that have posted. The driving conditions aren't listed but I'm sure it's a good gamut. Let's see what happens now that spring is here. Other than a few outliers, cough, Ready2Roll, cough, Tedboss1, cough, man this V is fast. Puts mods into a little perspective for me. Looking forward to see what kind of perspective cbloveday has. Thanks for posting.

I will be going to Napierville quite often.
CoOISI is from Montreal and he is also planning to go.
I will PM you guys next time I will be going.
It will be great to compare our cars.

Still waiting on my Wait4Me tunes. The guy is busy as hell I guess because I sent several messages and still no news on the tunes. When we'll go, i'll have just axleback exhaust and tunes but that will be fun for sure. Been going to the dragstrip with all the cars I had in the past few years (SVT, S4, Z06, SRT-8, STi)...

You post a quicker MPH due to spinning early.
Good news is for every tenth you improve in your 60' helps to improve your ET by almost 2/tenths.
Rock on.

Maybe hold off on the DR's unless you really want them. Spend it on some mods. Most guys that I recall with mods do it with the PS2s. Warmer weather, track prep, and practice could improve 60's. Play around with TC, transmission mode, technique, etc. Took me about 10 passes to get somewhat comfortable with the car. You will do just fine.

ted, great job on your first time out this season :)

I agree w/ mpouls. If I had to choose, I'd go with dr's after a ring and tune - not that I wouldn't do it all at the same time if I had the spare funds...lol. I was able to cut a 1.69 60' on the stock ps2's near the wear bars on three consecutive runs. i'm completely amazed by this tire. ofcourse, temp and track prep are huge factors. On a well prepped tracked you should easily get below a 2.0 60'. For reference, my launches were at 2500 rpm's with 26 psi in the rear tires, tranny in sport mode, suspension in tour mode.

To get your 1.69 60' times what was your setup for the TCS?
Is your car std. or auto?

MSJ
04-01-10, 11:03 AM
tedboss, TCS was in comp mode and my car is an auto. It's basically bone stock. I just have a 3" mandrel bend exhaust with perfed cans header back. not tune yet, but that's on the list soon with a ring. removing the exhaust kinks from the factory has netted an additional 25 rwhp for me untuned.

again, I can't say enough about about the ps2 tire. I run r-compounds from a couple different mfr's on my vettes, and while it's not the same, the ps2's have been a pleasant surprise compared to other street tires I have run.
