would my 95 heads/intake/all other accessories fit on a 94 Northstar? what other year blocks would my 95 parts fit on?

I posted by accident similar thread in the Eldorado section. would my 95 heads/intake and other accessories fit on a 94 block? what other year blocks would these parts fit on?

Yes they will. Generally the 93-95 engines are the same, the 96 thru 99 are the same then the 2000 to 2003 (?) are the same. Within those groups there will be machining differences, like a 98+ block will have different bolt holes machined into it for motor mounts that are different from the 97 amd earlier blocks. 93 to 95 heads are machine differently and require an intake from one of those year engines but as long as you keep your parts from engines within those year groups you should be fine.

so the 95 block is different then the 96 block? so the 95 heads will not work on a 96 and up? interesting.

They may be the same, but your going from an OBD1 to an OBDII engine at that point an there may be sensors on the 96+ that the 95 and earlier don't use. If you keep all of your sensors, heads and intakes it might work, but there may be internal changes (like the crankshaft reluctor wheel that changed between 99 and 2000) that may cause you fits when trying to get the car running again.

I'll move it over here.

is there a difference in blocks from a "Y" motor and a "9" motor from the same year or is it just in the heads and intake?

I think the only difference between a Y and a 9 in any give year is the intake cam.

only sensor that i know is knock sensor. 96+ under the intake, 95 under on side of block. Other sensors that are different will be external and you can use whatever is in the car. Bolt holes for engine mounts.... 98+ have an extra hole bottom left of timing chain cover.. intakes 96-99 are a bit different than earlier but can swap. Mostly its just sensors and vacuum stuff. From what ive seen so far, newer blocks have provisions for older cars, but not vice versa. As in: a 98 block might have holes for a 98 knock sensor and a 95 knock sensor, but a 95 block wont have hole for a 98.

edit: there is a guy up here who put a VIN9 2000+ engine in a VIN Y deville. THink the car is a 2000 or 2001. He used the VIN 9 donors PCM (was not a deville AFAIK) and drives it every day. He did not need dealer programming. Not sure how well that would work for previous years, but a lot of things run off the PCM and some components may not be the same so you lose some things. (yaw sensor in 97+ STS as an example.)
