Thanks for the list Dan

I'm curious about this one,

08128 APR 08 Campaign - ECM Update for OBD Improvements (http://www.alldatadiy.com/products/diy/index2.html)

Have any details on it ? As it appears like they should have performed an ECM update.

03-29-10, 01:30 AM
Took my 2006 STS-V in for service about a month ago for the infamous "Engine Hot - AC off" problem and got my ECM updated. It's easy to tell if you have the update. If you lightly put your foot on the brake pedal and also press the gas and the engine won't rev above 2000 rpm then you have the update. At 2000 rpm the fuel and/or spark gets retarded.
By the way, didn't help the "Engine Hot" problem. It stil comes up about once a month or so for the day then goes away.

03-29-10, 06:25 AM
So no brake-torque starts? Does it let you do this if you have it in Competition Mode?

03-29-10, 08:38 AM
Thats exactly how I discovered it. Use to be able to get to about 2100 rpm to get a good start, now I have to do around 1800 rpm. Even does it in competitive driving mode.

I had the same problem and they replaced thermostat to fix. Thanks for the info on how to tell if you have the update.

Did your engine actually get hot? When I get the Engine Hot message, I monitored the oil temperature and it was normal. The other thing I notIced was the temperature gauge doesn't move off of the bottom.

Yes exactly the same symtoms for me.

One last question. After it came on, I could park the car for hours and come back and start the car and it would be on the instant the car started. Did yours do that also?

Hey Guys!! I use to get that message exactly as the odometer would read 22k, 23k, etc.. They reprogrammed my computer and it never happened again. They also tested the stat and it was functioning properly.

I had the exact same problem as described above. Engine Hot message with normal oil temp and coolant temp at the bottom. The dealer replaced the thermostat and reflashed the ECU with a new update. I haven't had the message back and the car seems to feel stronger.

They did reflash mine, but it just made the problem less frequent. After the flash, mine seemed to have less power. I'll try getting the thermostat replaced. Thanks for all the input.
