Hello just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a member of Oldies Car Club - Houston, TX Chapter (1953 Bel Air hardtop) and enjoy anything from classic rides to g-bodies. Recently picked up a 1983 Cadillac Coupe Deville Patriot from a friend and hope this site will help me with the resto process for the vehicle.

Sincerely,
GM

Welcome, DJ! What makes your CDV a "Patriot?" Hope you will find lots of help here at the forum.

The only info I found on this vehicle is what someone posted in this forum (which is how I found this forum) a while back:

In was an aftermarket kit, sold independently by Classic Design to Cadillac dealers coast-to-coast. The dealership's body-shop installed it. The kit included the simulated convertible roof, the deck lid/quarter panel termination mouldings with simulated snaps for the convertibleboot, the faux Rolls Royce grille that replaced the original Cadillac grille and silver plated plastic fender emblems "Patriot". It was available for the Coupe AND Sedan de Villes from 1977 thru 1984. The vinyl covering the top was available in hoards of colors to match or contrast with the many body paints, available over those 8 years.

The two rear emblems on the panels say "Patriot" and I remember seeing these back in the early 80's but haven't seen one again up until this friend had this one for sale and I went ahead and picked it up. This will be the first cadillac that I've had since most of my vehicles spanned from 50's chevrolets to regals, t-types, gn's, chevelles & a '78 malibu coupe plus a couple of 1982 thunderbird landau's.

Here's a couple of pictures of the vehicle at the previous owners shop. They were going to "90" it out but never did which is better for me since I like keeping my vehicles close to original.

I replied last night but I guess since I'm a new member it didn't come up.

here are a couple more pics of how the car currently sits at a friends shop. He should be dropping it off hopefully today at my home.

The rear quarter panels have emblems that say "Patriot"

The front header panel, front bumper & hood were removed since they were going to "90" the car and also pull the blown 4100. I'm getting the car with the original parts and putting it back to original status other than the engine.

I don't remember if contrasting piping was available from the factory during those years, maybe Sandy could tell us. I think it adds something to the car.

Could someone please pm Sandy this for me? Thanks.

I noticed in a past response you gave to someone, that you have knowledge of Cadillac Coupe DeVille Patriots. I was wondering if you had more information on them and could educate me on what I have (posted in the general discussion/introduction) currently since I'm not really knowledgeable of Cadillacs.

Thanks,
Gabriel M.
