transmission guy says i need 4 selonoid blocks on my transmission,not the new transmission that the 1st guy said i needed..my question is what the hell are selonoid blocks and how much should the cost????HELP....John

Search this forum for "Shift Solenoid" and things like that. There are some good threads on the subject.

Ask the guy he would charge for labor if you supply the parts. As I read the forums, you should get the guy to replace the gasket on the pan, clean the screens, change (but not flush) the transmission fluid, and of course put in the new shift solenoids while he's in there. I'm not sure I've seen anything about four of them, they usually talk about two of them in the forums. Prices have been discussed in the forums, but I think parts for this job should be about $200 or less.

I think it's a good sign if you found a guy who even knows about this as opposed to the guy who wanted to sell you a new transmission. Find out what he wants for labor and get back. I'm sure you can get some good feedback here.
