Well I wanted to share with all of you guys what a Z rated STS is all about so I fgured Id post it here for everyone to see rather than the Seville forums. (Mods if it must be moved then so be it.)

I took this video the day I found out my car was Z Rated, I know I probably didnt hit 160 but I...

A.) Forgot how to edit out comment bubbles

Cool! The fastest I ever drove was 135, and that was in the Benz. I do remember it requiring complete and 100% attention at that speed. Even at 2 AM on a completely deserted highway. I turned the hvac and radio off too during that run.

eXile

I had AC on, radio was on (very low), as well as my heated seat :)

It did require ALOT of attention, hence the shakey-ness sorry but I didnt wanna wreck my new Z-Rated STS.

It was a blast though I would totally do it again if I found another deserted piece of highway at 1 AM like that :P

sorry. no. from viewing your video i can see exactly how your car responds... and mine responds the same. at 120 just a bit above the 2500 rpm. then you car drops into third... mine runs 150 in third at exactly your rpm.... ALSO.. notive the littl light on the left and side of the speedometer cluster near the bottom?.. yeah seems to me the MPH is displayed on the right hand side.. looks like your is showing KM/H... as seen in this photo

150 is only about 96 mph.
why it doesnt show more then 150 i dont know. my gauge goes to 250 and i have had my car to 250 with the gauge showing 250 ONLY even tho i saw 265 on my GPS after my digital gauge maxed out so its the same for both US and canada cars

I have had the WS6 going 171 on GPS on as closed course. Unless traffic is over the flow of 70, none of my cars see over that on public roads anymore. I must be getting old :( I know the little guy mellowed me out! Hell Big Poo (the 1 ton) doesn't see over 60. 4.10 gears and 3 speed is 2800 rpm at a that speed.

ryannel2003

It's definitely in km/h. Look at his mileage... going over his older threads the car had around 150-160k miles on it when he bought it... and if you look it clearly has a 2 at the beginning of the mileage. Yeah and 2500rpms at 135... my car was redlined. So sorry bro, I'm not gonna buy this one.

being flamed or called out on the internet sucks because hiding behind a keyboard is a easy thing to do.

the reason the gauge doesnt read higher (i think) is because the input for both units ( analog and digital) come from the same data wire. so the PCm tells it to stop the data for the analog gauge so it does not over extend the "solinoid" thus cutting it off and limiting also what the digital gauge is reading out

i take the 404 to work, when i work. and the 404 is known to be the fastest hiway other then the 407 toll road. and yes i am running 140 at JUST under 3000 rpm most of the way... 125 ish will be 2500 even ( DTS not sts) dont worry man. they are quick cars but why some one is trying to pull the wool over our eye when any one of us can sit in our driver seat and hit the " eng/met" button and see the diffrence is beyond me.

I honestly could have made a mistake, but I do know this, the engine was topped out and I DO know it is a Z Rated car, so whether it was in km/h or mph I know I was at least at 150 MPH.

I've read, re-read, and re-re-read threads in the Seville forums Im by no means an idiot nor am I attempting to hide behind my keyboard and throw lies out at you guys. I enjoy everyone on these forums and all their opinions and likes/dislikes of cars, I would in no way shape or form attempt to dismantle that.

Whether or not I made a mistake (vid is to blurry to really make a for sure indication [at least in my opinion]), I DO know that its Z rated based on the information I've read in the Seville forums and know that the engine was topped out, in a open stretch of road. And with consistent reports of 150-155 MPH top speeds on these Z Rated cars I don't doubt I went that fast.

Another way to look at it is that export models had a speedo that went to what ?? 250 Kmh ??.............and you could shift that to mph, so the poor export speedo never got past 9 o'clock (60 mph) at the mph setting.

My 2002 is "mph" on the right, "kph" on the left, on the lower speedo face.

KPH X .62 = mph. So, 250 KPH comes out to about 155 MPH = Z-car.

My old speed limiter was 130 MPH, so that comes out to 210 KPH, and my speedo will NOT shift to anything higher than the 150+ fluorescent numbers, so the last 60 "kph" are missing in action.

.................and, FWIW, 90 mph is decent pay-attention Interstate-type road driving. 150 mph is 100% fast concentration - things happen in milliseconds rather than tenths. 90 mph is fast. 150 is OMG !!!

Look at post #9, down in the right hand corner - find that video - that's a 250 kph speedometer. Export.

So I'm glad to hear that you actual speed was considerably less than originally reported. I hope you continue to enjoy your STS "Z," but also use some prudence when a collision with a sizable animal or another car could end your young life!

Yup, can you imagine trying to do those speeds on an Italian autostrada today, with the traffic as it is it would be suicide. The P400 Miura is still one of my favorite cars. I got to know them quite well in the late sixties and early seventies (as I have said before, because of my relatively small hands I could change the plugs on the bulkhead side of a Miura's without taking off the 3 dualchoke Webbers and the intake manifold). To be honest though I prefered my 350 GT as a car to own and drive; i.e. the build quality was much higher and it was a lot quieter, just a better car to live with and enjoy. But the Miura was the first of the super exotica and one of the best looking cars ever!

Governed, yes. But set to the speed rating of the tires installed at the factory. Mine stops at 108MPH, even though I currently have H-rated (130MPH) tires, because the factory loaded S-rated tires.

Now I just gotta find someone willing to set the limiter to match the new tires.

I did 140 in the Q45 once. SCARED THE SH*T OUT OF ME. It was stable and didn't vibrate or shake, but the earth went by at a frightening pace. The lines on the road turned into one long line. And of course if anything was to jump out, I wouldn't be able to brake. You just don't brake at that speed. You have to let it slow through wind resistance down to 90mph.

I believe that car was electronically limited to 155, but I never tried to reach it.

To do that for the van you need 3 door stickers: An MSD red sticker [3 x 5, not the little one], A Flowmaster sticker, and [most important] a SplitFire spark plug sticker.

Each of those is good for 22 hp at idle and at least a half second in the 1/16, so the total boost is awesome !!!

I wonder what'd happen if you put S or H rated tires on a car with the Z Rated PCM...

PCM will let you drive very fast, higher than maximum speed that tires can go, and RIP! :D

Freddie Mercury was a hell of a frontman, and had a great voice, bur he'd rock that Miata.

Why do you say that? Because of all the Turbo Dodges?

Or the I grew up in Catskill...

The guy I was repling to lives in Albany NY. About 1/2 hour north of where I grew up.

Never been to Catskill, must be the Dodge thing. :hide:

Freddie Mercury was one of my all time favorites whether he would drive a Miata or blown hemi cuda is of no consequence. Great music, great voice..........and nothing else really matters.

Freddie Mercury would want something with a lot more power, more sheet metal, and more noise. He doesn't strike me as a man who would have driven anything small and quiet.

Well, frankly, he wouldn't drive at all.

He wants to ride his bicycle.

He'd probably blow something besides a Hemi.

:suspect:Hey now, if you like Freddie Mercury's ass that is your business and your right but don't add it to my quote pretending you don't know how it got there. It's cool man. I think we just witnessed a "coming out of the closet case" right here on the forums folks. Congrats itschrome!!!!!

Wow, before this thread gets closed...

Anyways, on the topic of Queen, what's the better song? Bohemian Rhapsody or Somebody To Love?
