Nice day outside. 50F+.

Walking into a fabric store with a pink shirt on after parking a little convertible... it just looks wrong. The only other man in the store was a gay guy, and he made it obvious.

Bought some black vinyl, upholstery glue, and padding material. Half off! Got it all for $15.

My door panel inserts were falling apart.

Installed a cupholder last night. The angle makes it impossible to fit a "small" drink. :(

Removed the twenty year-old fabric.

Attached the padding with E6000 glue.

Doggy didn't care for the upholstery glue smell.

Also used 3M outdoor mounting tape and a Boston Swingline stapler to attach the vinyl.

Finished product. I had to cut a slit for the door latch and handle.

Done!

Looks better than before but needs refinement. I need to tuck in the edges and pull the vinyl tighter.

Not bad. Could be a fifth (or whatever number you're on now) career for you.

I decided that its "good enough" and will work on it no further. This is why I could never be a mechanic or upholsterer or anything else hands-on. My craftsmanship is terrible and my standards are low.

Cool. Always nice to see the personal touch in a man's car.
