: Escalade Rear Window Blow Out

Right before Thansgiving of last year I had my rear window on my escalade blow out. When I looked at the window it was very strange. The glass was blown out on ths sides where the gas shocks attach and at the top where the hinges attach, the entire center section was still in one peice laying on the opening. All the glass from the sides and top blew out into the street.

At fist I thought maybe someone tried to break in, but the evidence did not match, there was no glass in the vehicle, all on the ground outside. There was no evidence of anyone trying to pry it open around the sides. Typically when someone breaks into a vehicle, the glass is broken in, not out.

GM blew me off when I asked them to investigate. Then yesterday I ran into a guy that had the same thing happen to his Yukon, so now I am thinking that there really is a problem with the glass.

Anyone else have this happen to them ?

I have heard of this happening on a wide variety of vehicles. It's related to the rear window defrost, IIRC.

8/11/2015. This afternoon I just had my rear window on my Escalade blow out. Vehicle was parked in the garage and I was standing approx. 10 feet behind it. Glass was all over the driveway in front on me. I have contacted Cadillac and am waiting on a call back.

We need to contact myth busters and get them involved.
