I have a 97 catera and the interior is nice and all.....but i cant stand woodgrain. The inside of the car doesn't match up with the outside . What i was thinking about is painting all my woodgrain and the plastic around the gauges, also the trim around the radio. I got an estimate to have it professionally done for $100. When i saw that it was going to be that much i began thinking to paint it myself. The color i want to paint it is the same as the exterior color, dark red/burgundy. Jus curious to see if any 1 has any suggestions. I think it'l look sweet but ive been haven 2nd thoughts.

Well... get high gloss paint- kyrlon makes special paints for plastic called Fusion.. should work well.. and after youve painted , spray it with a clear coat for best effect. I believe the woodgrain is plastic... you can make sure by taking it off. Sand off the gloss reallly well on the wood pieces for good adhesion.

OH.. there are dash/trim kits out on the net, and they may even have special look ones like brushed aluminium etc. Try searching google. Its a trade off, spend 100 get it well painted, or do it yourself... would turn out good or spend more and get a dash kit, 200 to even 300 for a Full kit.

I in no way am underestimating your painting abilities lol. - just giving options and some suggestions.
