My new 2005 SRX came with a Navigation DVD v.3.00 (#464210-6090) which is from May 2003. I understand this is the newest version available. Does this bother anyone else? Will a new version be released any minute or do they only update this every few years? My dealer says they come out every year but I honestly don't think he has any idea what he's talking about. Also, when a new DVD is available, how much will it cost and how do I find out about it? I can't believe it will be current info on the Cadillac site as they don't even have info about the 2005 SRX yet! My neighborhood is completely drawn wrong....and seems the POI's would need to be kept current to be of any value. I hate to follow directions to a restuarant which isn't even open any more!

I would think our Denso nav system's mapping software/systems might have updates available every 6-12 mo. or so. I got a new Navtech-based, MapSource update for my Garmin StreetPilot III after about 8 months of ownership, and it cost me $150.

My O5 has the same disk. It also says "copyrighted 2002" or something to that effect. If it is 2002 info that is clearly too old. If it is May 2003 that is just a little over a year and I think that is within a reasonable range. Obviously newer is better and I wish mine were May 2004.
It appears from what I have read that the updates are to expensive (several hundred dollars) to purchase on a regular basis (for all OEM Nav systems). That is unfortunate and is seems that the mapping companies would actually make more money if they would price the updates reasonably. I would probably buy every year for $50 to $100 and I bet a lot of other people would also.
My point is we shouldn't have to BUY the update if our system is purchased within.....say......one year of when it's released. I think we should be entitled to newest available AND this type of stuff should be updated at least every year! But I suppose Cadillac has us now.....and they need not give us anything!

Based on the fact that our Denso DVD data is comparable to my "latest" StreetPilot's Mapsource NA City Navigator v5 data from 7/03, I think our Denso nav system's Navtech mapping data is approx one year old right now. Not too bad, but I agree than an update should be made available shortly. And as I said earlier, ~$150 is a reasonable price for updated mapping and POI data. If Cadillac/Denso would improve the nav firmware/interface also (see previous complaint threads on nav system), then I would be happy to pay even more!

Well, it doesn't bother me nearly as much as the substantial errors in mine, or the bad algorithms. In one case it literally sent me in a circle. In another, it had a route way worse than the one I knew was possible (this was in the backwoods of Maine -- but on roads that it knew about, I suspect a coding error led it to believe that two roads that clearly intersected on the display, didn't actually connect -- but of course they did, and that provided a route that was about 30 minutes quicker than the one it was recommending!).
The nav system's routes are often much worse than the Blaulove godt unit in our previous Audi. I have to admit though that both systems are about tied for instructing me to make illegal left turns!

I have a 2005 Deville and it came with a 2004 DVD and doesn't have accurate info for my neighborhood and other parts of the area.

"I understand this is the newest version available."
Re. above: Not correct!
We bought our 2005 SRX V6 in May 2005.
Our navigation DVD part number on the disk itself is GM p/n 10389450 version 4.00 copyright date 2004 by Denso.
I think your dealer has some explaining to do. As you took delivery some five months after us, your DVD should definitely be the same or newer.
Good Luck.
I bought my 2005 in Dec. of 2004 w/ version 4.0
I think a lot of dealers "swap" them out, how many people do you think would look into the matter of which version they have???
