I'm looking for a few State plates in particular for my collection. If anyone has any older expired plates they want to get rid of, please let me know and I'll be happy to purchase them from you.

I might be interested in the following: (or any other State)

Arizona: "Protect our Environment" plate (very colorful)

Texas: "Lone Star State" with flag at top.

California: script.

Florida: "Palm Beach" with orange, or ""Pinellas" or "Protect Wild Dolphins" (nicest I think) or "Invest in Children" plate.

Indiana's "Amber" plate is very colorful and scenic.

Wyoming "Devils Tower."

Who has the nicest liscense plates?

Check ebay. You shouldn't have any problem finding them on there :)

LOL! That's funny. With my luck the screwdriver will be in metric and the screws imperial. :rant2:

Actually Mike I checked there but I'm not giving my credit card number out that way, I just don't trust it. Plus they don't have too much selection. I'm hitting garage sales, etc. but my Dad got me a 1967 Sask. plate from our Centennial which will go on my Caddy for awhile. :bouncy:

I found this place which lets you see every plate, including all of North America and parts of Europe, etc. I was just hoping that someone was going to throw some out, then they might let me know.

Got it, thanks RB. I have only seen South Park a couple of times. I prefer the Simpsons.

BM, at least you didn't do the "Ralph the Dog" bit, and I thank you for it. :p

Somewhere I have a stack of Tennessee plates from the early 80's. Still trying to figure out something cool to do with them.

What do you do with them, Ralph?

Thanks Stoney, Elvis, I'll take a look at them on that site and tell you if I'm interested. If their from a "cool" State, they'll go on the front of my car for awhile. :lildevil:

Stoney, I was expecting to see you fly overhead in your Caddy, I might have waved. ;) But I'm glad the storm didn't seem to effect anyone here too badly.

One more thing , that alaska plate is from the "Fairbanks/Northstar Borough"

Who else could register a car in a borough (county) called northstar ?

Too bad it was on a infiniti and not a cadillac , yet another reason i wish i had a caddy up there

link for alaska map showing borough names:

Speaking of Alaska, when I saw the "Aleutian" islands on your map, I remembered some years ago talking with a WW2 vet who lived in my building and he fought with the Americans on those Islands against the Japanese. I guess it was quite a battle.

I don't know if I like the Alaska plates. Not pretty enough. ;) :hide: I'll have to be a bit selective as I must watch my budget this month I'm afraid. :shhh:

Actually Ralph has a pretty good idea going on here :) If anyone wants to get rid of plates might be interested in them too. Always looking for interesting things! Someone I know took a trip out west earlier this summer Ralph and got soem plates at a garage sale and a flea market. I forget what ones they are now but they were Canadian ones.

Just do what I used to do and e-mail the seller and ask them if they'll take a money order. Then you just have to goto the post office and get a US money order and a stamp while you're there.

Thanks, I wasn't exactly sure how that worked as I've never bought anything over the net before. There must be tons of "auto memorabillia" stuff out there and it would be really cool to get a Cadillac logo plate that you see in old Cadillac adds. One that comes to mind is the add in my owner's manual for the 1958 Cadillac with the "crowned shield" steel plate.

yes that battle was very hard fought in ww2 ...

The japenese actually held a couple of the islands , took the US almost a year to force what was left of the japanese off the islands and reclaim them under US controll . It would have taken shorter but the weather on those islands really hurt our air campain against the japanese . The weather also helped us as the japanese were caught unprepared for the weather on the aleutian isalnds as it changes very very fast . When the winter storm lifted we arrived only to find a few japanese soldiers left that either didnt die from weather or didnt die from suicide (that whole japanese honor deal)...

The alueitan islands were the only American land that the an axis power took/held , there plan was use the isalands as the entry point for a north american invaision as the baloon bombs we not working properly (not enough cauasalites inflicted). But a few of these bombs did make there trip from a japan launch and a US soil explosion and i belive caused no more than 2 deaths and a couple injurys . By that time the baloons were almost perfected and the next assualt with them would be filled with fleas carrying the bubonic plague devolped by the japanese on chinese prisoncamp workers .

You know your history well. It's freaky to think about how close the Japanese came to the North American mainland, and I bet most people don't know about that battle. Another vet I know was in the Canadian Navy WW2, and they would sweep the St. Lawrence river (Canada) and often find German mines, and even a German sub once! Unfortunately he died in 1997, but he told me many stories like how when the American sub came up to escort the German sub we caught away, the Canuck Navy boys got to see inside the American sub and had a meal with them and the sub was very advanced compared to anything! He told me the U.S. sub boys got to eat like kings everyday, and usually it was steak and roast, etc. U.S. military spared no expense for their soldiers.

Elvis, I'll possibly get a hold of you in a month or so about one of those Tenn. plates, and maybe at the same time I can convince Stoney to dig up one with an orange on it. ;) I wonder how much shipping would be?

November would be great time if you can find one in good shape for a cheap price. I should be making decent money by then, and I'll repay you for any shipping fees, etc. ;)

I'm buying RB's if it's not too expensive for the shipping. Any State plate that says "Live Free or DIE" is one of the "cool" ones IMO. :p
