I am thinking of installing the active struts on my 91 DeVille that did not come originally equipped with the active suspension.

Has anyone done this?

I plan on installing a toggle switch to control the modes, as did the Corvette when it got the shocks like that. Firm Normal Soft. Maybe install a heated front glass switch and then wire it to the struts and not tell anyone....

How much of a difference does the 3 modes make? I prefer a more solid ride anyway.

If I was to find a active suspension car in the boneyard, is it possible to "upgrade"?

I have the FSM, so I am aware of the parts involved, but not just how hard it might be.

Thanks!!
Tom

pretty cool idea man. once you get the struts, see how far they extend and how far they retract. select a few posistions that you'd like to ride at. factor in vehicle weight and all those variables. figure out what kind of voltage they expect and rig that up with some electronics.. maybe control it with a slider switch.. kinda like the twilight sentinal uses. nice mod. If i had about $1000 you could have mine. computer and all (maybe) .. im gonna put on some air bags.. kinda like active suspension, im not looking for handling.. just some parking lot profiling. check out airride.com and see whats up

Are you picking up used active struts somewhere? The factory ones are discontinued.
