What's wrong with the steering? Sluggish? Squishy in tunrs, too much body roll? We need more details.

I have a 96 seville sts. At 100k my steering went limp. Replace 1of 3 or all.
Ball joint

Outer tie rod

Stablizer bushing& bracket.

All parts in front end &you should be on your way.
And also A- arm bushings.
Lot of mileage those parts wear badly.

A lot of things.
1. Many cars have some play built in actually. It's there to make high speed driving a bit safer. If you sneeze, and your hand twitches, you dont want to have just made a u turn. BMW has some of the least play built in of any company.
2. A tiring steering assist system. Power steering pump wearing out, looseness in any of the gearings on the steering ratios, etc. Also the things Q caddy mention, ball joints, bushings, etc.

Now, if you want to bring the car back to it's stock steering, replace the things Q mentioned. If you want more responsive than the original, there are companies that make replacement steering assist ratios, in various forms with quicker ratios. The tightening up can be as drastic as dropping from 2 full spins from center to be hard over on either side, all the way down to a half circle to be hard over. (Not recommended to go THAT short, but it is likely to be available.)

Shadow good additional insight on steering woes .
Gm cars always seem to have a little less responsive steering than some other imports. However They are bigger& heavier cars. Good for us. I do have a ? For you.
I after I did my front end work. I noticed a slight squeal coming from p/s pump.
Noticed on the shaft that goes to the p/s pulle their is some sort of seal squeezin out around th shaft & pulley wobbles a little . Also hear a little groan coming from around the wheel when turning wheel left with out car moving.
P./s pump on its way?
