The primary coil windings can be checked by removing the ICM from each cassette (two lock tabs on the bottom of the ICM leg) and probing the cassette connector socket and ground spring with a VOM set to OHMS. PITA because everything's potted in epoxy. Can't find the electrical spec.

The ICM is electronic, so it takes a GM diagnostic tool connection with the pack installed.

I know how to check with VOM, just need specs to check at plug connector wires. I will try to check with out specs by testing good coil of pack and then checking the coil I think is bad by the good coil readings.

Thanks

I haven't had a chance to try to check the coil packs against each other. Question, is the left and right coil pack interchangeable?? I checked different web sites even AC Delco, and all list right side coil pack only, no left side. So I am quessing that they are the same.

The 2000 - late 2003 coil cassettes and ICM's are identical except for color.

Thanks. I will switch the coil packs and see if the dead cylinder moves to the other bank.
