What is the trick to getting the waterpump off?
We used the tool and can't get it to pop. We had to go clockwise to look at loosen it, but we can't pop it off and the tool didn't last all too long.

The water pump capsule should rotate about 30 degrees clockwise then pull out. Is the belt disconnected ? The whole thing - impeller, bearing, seal, pulley comes out in 1 piece.
If you used a cheap stamped socket, that's the problem - you need to get the real McCoy or make one like Ranger did and posted pictures a while back............
Give it a couple short burst from an impact. That usually persuades it.
those cheap tools are junk, surprisingly i found a N* water pump removal tool a Cambell supply!! its like fleet farm or country general.
Advance has a loaner N* socket that wont break.
Mine wouldnt have come out without an impact on it.

Same thing wih myn I used and impact but my x-over was on a work bench cause I was swapping the water pump and egr to a new x-over since I found a hole in it. Last person to seperate the motor fromt he trans put a hole in it and tried jb-welding it. That was a big fail
