I want to remove the stock subwoofer in my 2001 STS in order to create a port into the cabin for my aftermarket subwoofer in the trunk. Do I have to remove the rear seat to do this or can it be done differently?

I did this on my deville and i had to remove the back seat to remove some bolts

I have a 2002 Seville with the sub in the back and all I did was remove the metal screen which just pops out. Then pried the 5 plastic screws out and pulled the sub up to disconnect the wires.

From inside the trunk pull down the upper carpeting. Around the sub woofer you will see the corners of the sub grille folded over. Straighten them out so they point straight down. Disconnect the wiring while you are in there. Go inside the car and pull the grille off. There are some plastic pins that need to be removed. Mine broke during removal but if you aren't putting another sub in the location it won't matter. Remove the pins and pull the sub upward to remove. Replace the grille and go back into the trunk and fold the edges over.
