Greetings, I just found these forums and hope someone might be able to assist me.

I have a 99 Deville Concours with Climate control problems. The A/C stays on, on the passenger side, no heat comes out. I took it to the dealer and they said it would cost $1,100 for a new A/C programmer, I told them no, for now. It's still summer, and last year the problem fixed itself after a month or so of using Heat only.

Well my local mechanic can replace the A/C programmer for 900. I found one at a local wrecking yard for $75.00 and installed it myself. Guess what, it didn't fix the problem, still no heat on the passenger side.

Any ideas? Did the dealer misdiagnose the problem or is it possible theres an electrical problem. I'm thinking a door is stuck in the dash somewhere, but am afraid to start pulling things apart.

Any ideas someone may have would be great.

Thanks much!

Check the "sticky" at the top of the page. It may have your answer there.

i agree with ranger. the problems sound very similar. it may be the heater core.

Well prior to taking it to a different shop I opened up the dash. I wiggled the levers I found and, it's fixed. Yea, that's right, the problem was a stuck actuator. I am never going back to that dealer again, that's plain lame.

Next time that happens, run the temp all the way up to 90 then back down your desired temp to free up and exercise a sticky actuator.

I'm having a similar problem. I took apart everything in the way of the heater core and let the car warm up. Heater core warmed up evenly so that wasn't the problem. I plugged in the heatcore cover that has both actuators and the drivers side one didn't move at all. Switched the cables leading to the actuators and guess what? The one running off the cable that leads to the passenger actuator works, the drivers doesn't.

I believe its the programer, what do you guys think? I was also considering runing both actuators off of the working passenger side cable, losing dual climate control... but I wouldnt mind. Do you guys think there might be a problem with that? Might the voltage drop that will occur by running both actuators make the computer think there is something wrong and start giving me other headaches?

Thanks in advance.

btw, it's a '99 Deville
