welll back @ it with the same damn suspension problemm!! first i change the pump all was good...3 months later "check suspension" was back on so i changed all shocks front and rear thinking there was a leak or just dry rotted..and bought another pump thru "arnott" this time>>so moving forward all was good with all new shocks and new pump, up until 3 days ago when that damn "check suspension " came back on and realized my pump isnt working???? i even hooked it up to my trailer to see and nothing>> i pulled it out and check conections to all shocks and compressor it self..all is good. guys please give me a hand over here im loosing it what can be causing me to go thru 2 compressors within 8 month stretch??? is there a relay or something shorting out?? pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee helppp..im already in big $$$ and really dont want to go to the dealer cause all they said they will do is replace the pump(which reads when they scanned it) ANY HELP FELLAS WOULD B GREAT!! THX IN ADVANCE. D,
Check the thread about the million dollar question air ride relay question. A majority of us found the solenoid on the compressor assembly was not working, causing the problem. Its an easy check. You can have a look at your first pump, if you still have it. You can start by jumping power to the pump via the relay under the hood. If it works the solenoid is most likely dead. The unit is not very well sealed from the factory, allowing the wires to corrode and break. If this solenoid doesnt energize the compressor doesn't power on, and service ride control message comes on. I posted pics to help you out. Freebie fix to solder the wire if the solenoid is at fault!
thx..but it still doesnt make sense that 2 brand new compressors within 8 months that go bad?? something is causing them or something to make it stop working...and as of today the "service light" is not on but still nothing out of the compressor.
Unlikely its the compressor...
Check the solenoid and relay..
I had a compressor that was not coming on..Paid dealer to tell me the compressor was bad..Replaced it . Got old one home hooked it 12volts it was fine...something was telling it NOT to come on..When the dealer tells you the compressor is bad becasue it is not coming on, often that means its just not getting the signal to come on.
Not true. My compressor was shot but still ran. There is a solenoid inside the actual compressor (exhaust valve) that commonly goes out.... and when hooked up to 12v... the compressor still ran.
The scm will trigger the solenoid before sending negative signal to the relay that powers the motor for the compressor. If there's no feedback to the scm that the solenoid is working, compressor won't activate. For the stealership, anything to do with the solenoid, pressure sensor, or the motor means replacing the unit as no parts are available separately. I agree 2 in 8 months is not a good sign. Did you bypass the relay see if the compressor runs?
Thats what I was referring too...The exhaust solenoid often goes bad but that code will show up on a scan, but they will often just tell you the compressor is bad with elaborating that it is the solenoid allowing you to a further step toward replacement...If the module is bad the compressor will not turn on as well...I had my Escalade to 3 dealers paying for diag. and it was simply the exhaust valve solenoid I found after using a friends scanner..
guys i appreciate the help ..i have not had time to check the pump...not to sound stupid but where is the relay located?? to me something is not sending a signal to the pump to activate or something is blowing out the pump.. i will def check the pump to see if its the solenoid...also is that a relay or main fuse dwn next ti the steering column almost by the floor board??.. just trying to get this problem solved cause its pissing me off to no end and the ride is like shit expecially when im towing...once again guys thanks alot for the info!!!!
