:welcome: Those are beautiful and RARE cars. Of course we will want to know what color it is, options, etc. Sandy will be able to give you a complete breakdown of how many like yours were built, etc.

1993, I have a sss sys light on and traction off light. On codes just that. The previous owner put a new radiator and changed the AC over to the new sys. I am the third owner. The first owners were older folk and kept it till 98. The second owner was a lady who had a Mechanic father who kept up the service. It uses no oil and other than the sss I cant find any other problems other than bad gas mileage.

What kind of mileage? I've got the same engine (4.9) as you and I'm getting 25-27 hwy, and around 19-21 in city. (according to the computer) The only thing that's been done to my engine is the addition on new Bosche platinum spark plugs. Oh, and new long-life coolant a couple of years ago. Maybe your 60 just needs a tune up.

according to computer 16.2 tops. It started out at 15 and I cleaned the carb that has helped some. What can be done to improve the milage? And how do you post pictures?? :annoyed: Link to picture.

We have 3 Sixty Specials on here, and you are #4. WELCOME !

Mine has 9,989 miles, and is 100% new. I ordered it new and it's very, very special. Was pulled off the line, and was slightly customized as far as color/interior.

Drop me a note at cigarsandy@comcast.net and give me your address and I'll forward to you the complete build of all 5,292 1993 Sixty Specials. You can see how your car fits in. Jacob Hoppe on here has a Slate-Green over Neutral leather one, and mine is Deep Plum Purple with White leather.

I'll get it right out to you.

Those links don't work for me. When you are posting on a thread, click "manage attatchments" near the bottom left and browse until you can upload the pics you want up.

Maybe the fuel injectors need a cleaning, there could be numerous reasons for bad gas mileage, worn ignition parts, tire alignment, pressure, brakes binding or a caliper dragging on the rotor, spark plugs, etc.

I'm still getting "Gateway Timeouts" for your pics. I'll try again later.

To format to a smaller size I use Photoshoppe and usually put them to around 300 to 500 pixels, etc. Dang it, I wanna see your car! :bonkers:

Nice bright Sixty, darylmex! It's Mr. Hoppe right here with some pics of my own Sixty Special...the one Sandy mentioned.

BTW Sandy, I found your rims on Ebay. How's $300 plus $100 shipping sound? I'm considering...

Geez Sandy, I thought YOU had a newer computer than that. :p j/k. My computer is a year older than yours, but sometimes it acts funny.

The gold package is nice to have, but I don't think it's anything really special. When my Dad bought the Fleetwood I own now, it came with silver. He asked about the gold, so they gave him the gold hood ornament (kept mint in my safe) and the rear end Cadillac script and 4.9 plaque, that he put on himself. I wish I had the gold emblems on the "C" pillar or sail panal, and the dash above the glovebox, but it still turns heads no problem. ;) Click my name and go under "public info" if you want to see my car.

Hi, Jake!! Glad you showed up!
Daryl, Jake's here. He's a good guy & 60 Spec owner too.
Slate Green - Neutral Interior.

The other owner is Andrew Gee, who I have not heard from for a while. I even forget his color combo.

Your car has the "Gold Ornamentation Package" a factory installed item. Maybe. Look at your glove box door. It has a wood background plaque that says Sixty Special. IF it's in Gold, (the script, that is) then your pkg. was factory installed. If the script is in silver, then the pkg was dealer installed.

Your wheels are the standard equipment ones.

Jacob - get OFF the computer, and go buy those rims! $300.00 for all 4 ??
"Does she have a sister???" :D

Does the same rule apply for my Fleetwood Sandy? I just ran downstairs to check and my wood plaque on the glovebox says "Fleetwood" in gold, but it never had that package from the factory.

Sandy
08-11-04, 12:00 AM
No, Ralph, it doesn't. All FLEETWOOD glove box doors script was gold. The Silver -VS- Gold was a 60-Special thing. Go figure??!! I guess that made up for NOT putting the model name on the car's sides!!

Ralph

Thanks Sandy.

Well now those pics worked for me! I like the color combo and blue interior. I also think the gold package looks particularily good with white paint.

One more question, Sandy...where'd you get those tires?? Or do you have an official name for that type with the wide white walls with the vogue stripe?

Sandy
08-11-04, 01:14 AM
They are VOGUE {brand} tyres
http://www.voguetyre.com
I had them put on the day before I took delivery at the Caddy dealer. They are expensive. $795.00 for 4 mounted/balanced. Dealer keeps the OEMS.
They are a bear to keep clean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They ride soft & cushy. Any Caddy dealer will be only too happy to sell them to you. No place else to purchase them, they sell only to Caddy dealers!!

Going to bed. Need my beauty sleep..... Oy, could 'ya barf at THAT one! :p

You know Ralph, that Spring edition in the junkyard has all 4 rims in good condition (lugs were off though, hope there still there) Shipping would probably be horrible though. And they may end up on my friend's coupe.

I should snap some pics of the Red/Silver 60spcl I see at work every sunday. gold package and red CLOTH interior. It's in great shape too.

Ralph, I'd trade rims with you but then my car would look more and more like Mr. Hoppe's ;)

Sandy, you could have just shot me an email!

BTW, there's an '89 Sixty Special for sale here. White over platinum, and only $3900 Cdn! (about $3000US). I'm probably the only one who thinks that's a good deal though. :P

Sandy

No I couldn't. I did something "Big-Bad" on the computer & deleted my entire address book, as well as all of my "sent" e-mails. So, I had no way to find your e-mail address!! I am so computer-stupid, I actually think I send myself my own virus'es !! Good thing I don't need any computer in my job on the garbage truck. :bouncy: Check your postal mail, 2-day!!

There is a 93 Sixty Special here by me for sale with 116,000 miles. They are asking 2,975....Description:
Fully Loaded! Air Conditioning, **Low Mileage**, Heated Seats, lumbar seats, , ABS, Traction Control, Tilt Wheel, Power Windows, Power Seats, Power Mirrors, Power Locks, New Tires, Memory Seats, Leather Interior, Driver-Side Airbag, Cassette Radio, Alloy Wheels, Alarm VIN 1G6CB53B6P4286315

Going to look at monday. Sure somewhat the same as my 89 Fleetwood, with the upgrades to the engine and slight interior improvements but Just wondering what would be a good deal for my sake since will be the 3rd car...but sort of cant pass up an 93 sixty special. I will try and knock him down a few, but what would be too much. Supposedly super clean, but some peoples definition is far different than mine. Anyways thank to everyone for the abundant amount of knowledge that I have learned on here!

Everything is digital on this car. It has 138000 miles and has been well taken care of. It is beautiful.

Welcome to the 60 Special club, darylmex. I have a car just like yours. It is Cotillion White with silver trim at the bottom, white vinyl top and dark blue leather. It is highly optioned with the Security Package (remote keyless entry and theft deterrent system), Custom Seating Package (driver seat with memory, dual front power recliners and driver seat auto exit position), Leather Seating Area, Chrome Aluminum Wheels (one of 237 cars built), Delco Bose Stereo w/Cassette (which bit the dust and was replaced), Power Glass Moonroof (one of 614 cars built) and originally listed for $42441.

These are fantastic cars. They ride beautifully, handle well for a large car. get respectable fuel mileage and, in my opinion, are one of the classiest automotive designs of all time.

By the way, do your sail panel Cadillac Crest lights work? If not, try to find a working pair as this is one of the coolest things about these cars!!! :coolgleam

Again, welcome, and come back often to converse with your 60 Special brothers.

These are the small Cadillac crest emblems on the C-pillar of the roof just behind the back doors. They have the wreath around them. They are supposed to light up when you turn your head/park lights on. Check them tonight to see if they work. Many of them on the older cars do not work unless they have been replaced.

Sandy

Make sure you specify right or left side, if you are ordering a replacement. They ARE side specific!!

Becoming rare(er) ~ migh consider buying one for the other side at the same time! Arount $89.00 each

I know those wreaths around the door locks are not original.

Nope, as far as the owner knows, all original. I second Ralph here, love the color, but leather is a must on a "personal limousine"

Ya, I guess they're kinda cool. I never cared for those dark center hub caps. If they were color matched to the paint, MAYBE, but I prefer whatever you would call ours. Were these only available on darker colored cars, because they would look terrible on mine.

Sandy
08-23-04, 09:21 AM
I just don't like that color paint on that car, and it's made worse with that faded dark red vinyl top color. The wheel centers on that car have been stolen and replaced with incorrect wheel centers, using "borrowed" ones from the Spring Special deVilles.

DaveSmed
08-23-04, 11:54 AM
I noticed that as well. In fact, it looks like a dealer may have done it since all 4 reflect the gold package option on the car. Pretty sure the owner doesn't mind though, he got the car for free. He's also looking into fixing up some blemishes, and freshing up the paint.

Sandy

All Spring Specials had the logos in Gold, as the Gold Ornamentation Pkg. was STANDARD on the Spring Specials !!! :)

1 of 44 made! Hmmm, maybe I should hold onto it and try to make more room.

EDIT: Actually mine is not monotone, it has the mauve colored bottom.

WOW !!

Going by the pictures, I thought it was Academy Grey (Dark Grey) ~ BUT they sure as heck did NOT come with that lower accent panel !!!! BTW, it's not "Mauve" but rather "Dark Plum" {the color of my entire car} ~ therefore.....your color is "TAUPE" Code # 63. 321 were made like it, that being Taupe Metallic upper & Dark Plum lower. Your Interior is also called Taupe, which is a greyish lilac color. Much too nice a car to sell IMHO !!!
