View Full Version : Bose CD Unit on none Bose Catera

I've tried searching to find the answer but have not been able to find a straight answer. I own a 99 Catera that currently has a none Bose Cassette head unit. I have bought a Bose CD head unit from eBay but it wont work because of the theft lock. Before I spend $80 to get the dealer to unlock the unit I wanted to make sure that it will work with my car. From what I've gathered it seems that I may need to get the Bose Amp. Is there anything else I'll need to get before going to the dealership?

I do not know hat head unit you have but I know that most of the Bose head unit can be set in both modes with Tech 2.
A non Bose head unit cannot be used with a Bose system, the output is to high.
Ask your dealer if its possible to use this head unit without the Bose Sound System.

Bose car audio systems have separate amplifiers. The output level is different, impedance levels are different, and it would likely not work. I wouldnt bother.

Yes I know, I have also an Bose Sound System.

Navigation Radio NCDR 1100

This type of radio can be set in two modus, with an Bose Sound Sytem and without a Bose Sound System.
I know this because the Bose Sound System was build in later and I have to let the dealer adjust the radio for with Bose Sound System.
