ok so this goes out to the people who have replaced the rubber brake lines with the Goodrige ones. Doing the actual lines that go into the calipers is not a problem, I am looking at the ones above the rear diff and those look impossible to get to. I have the spare tire out, but I am just not sure where to start as I don't even know if I can get a wrench back there.
How did you guys did this??
So...wait a minute. I have done goodridge on a number of vehicles and they are typically from the hard line to the caliper. Are you saying in the escalade they used standard brake hose from the axle inward?
no no, you are correct, however the Goodridge lines came as a 6 piece set. There are a total of 6 rubber lines on our trucks. 4 for the calipers and 2 that are above the rear axle and are a b!tch to get to. I manage to get all of them on, now the top 2 are leaking bad. I tightened 'em pretty tight w/o stripping them and they still leak. I'm at a loss of what to do now (other then have it towed somewhere)
I had the exact same problem installing mine. The inner fitting in the new flanges does not protrude enough to make the fitting seal compared to the stock lines. I ended up putting the stock lines back on the 2 over the diff, problem solved. Crappy, but it was my only choice.
Taking the spare tire off and a bunch of clips helped work on the lines.
arrrrg, dude, I wish I would have known this yesterday. I had the truck towed cause I was so frustrated, I didnt even wanna look at it anymore. I was under it for hours trying to get those 2 lines working. But thanks for replying, I may go down to where my truck is and talk to them and tell them they prob wont work. Now where can I get those factory rubber lines? I cut mine to get them off. this sucks, I wish I knew all this before I started.
so it turns out as expected I am purchasing new rubber lines to replace the leaking Goodrige ones. Needless to say I will never buy anything from that company again. I have never experienced anything like this with and I have installed stainless lines on a number of vehicles and they always worked.
