I always thought the keys were coded on the Escalades but my 04 EXT must not be. I went to Lowe's and had them cut a valet key for me and by mistake I put it in the ignition and ... it started the truck. I thought "wow, how cool is that". Just a curiosity, if the keys are coded, what's up with that and if not, when did they start coding them.
You are correct, there's no key ID possible on this generation escalades. Transponder keys are on the 07 +. Driver 1 + 2 is done with the OEM remote FOB. If the truck sits idle for awhile unlocked engine off, then started, bcm assumes the last driver to use it (either unlock via transmitter or driver select switch in the door) as default.
