: 4T80 experts

Well i called two tranny shops earlier this week, they both said that the 4t80 cracks at the bellhousing and is very common.

and guess what i found on mine?? Is this the normal crack they are talking about?

I've never seen this yet. I'm dealing mostly with the engines, but I've seen enough of these 4T80's. Casting imperfection? Too much stress in the case somewhere?

I have heard of one local guy having a problem with the case like this in a 2000+ model I believe it was. I'll have to check over my trans collection and see if I find anything. Thanks cl1986 for bringing this to my attention, I'll start checking these units for cracks.

these two shops i called said this was a known thing for the 4T80's to crack, infact that was the first response from both of them when i told them where it was leaking....

still dripping......anyone know if there are internals that can be hurt by welding in this area?? Ill find out tomorrow when i pull the pan, but i dont want to have to gut it to do the fix......
