A few time over the past years, my '03 has gone into limp home mode and displays the reduced engine power message and check engine light. I'm not sure but I may have triggered it by hitting the key to start up and pulling the gear lever into drive too quickly. It has always cleared after a few re-starts and the check engine light goes out after a few more start cycles. Has anyone else seen this happen or know what triggers it? I have not checked for codes. I assume the ECM sees something it doesn't like or think isn't correct but not sure what?
Thanks nathanjax, hate to admit but I haven't looked at my coolant level for a while so since this just happened thursday evening I'd better check. By the way, your list of LEDs was a real nice thing to post for many folks - nice work.
Good call on the low coolant, that's an easy one to forget about. Others here have traced this problem to faulty actuator in the TB. Have the code scanned at an auto parts store.
