I'm selling my 95 Z28 vert and am buying another Cadillac (also have an 87 Fleetwood Brougham). I normally dont like front wheel drive cars but I do like the Devilles. Anything I should be aware of as far as common problems with these cars or reliability or lack thereof? I found a nice 99 Deville black/black with chrome wheels and vogue tires and only 26k miles for $14k, is this a good price assuming its in mint condition? Thanks for any input.

Cmon, help me out here. If there are many known probs that are expensive fixes I need to know. Sold my Z28 today so I'm looking for a car now. Thanks.

99s are pretty good, they are the first year for some new stuff, but any bugs should be worked out by now. The powertrain is similar to pretty much all other FWD Northstars, so no real big problems there. Just make sure the coolant was changed and had the additive put in.

Destroyer, if it's any help, I have a '99 Deville (Base) that I purchased just about exactly three years ago. (I know that because I just sent in coupon #36 to Chase Automotive Finance...lol). Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with it, all things considered. The car had about 36 or 38K miles on it when I bought it, and as I pull out of my development next time I go out, it will tick to 88,888 :
Under warranty (GMAC Extended type, bought it with the car), I have had the following done:
2 Alternators
1 Battery
1 Radiator
1 AC Compressor
misc. switches (oil pressure sending, etc)
I never knew very much about the car until I started inhabiting this forum, you will learn a lot of useful information if you browse selectively.
Other than the above problems, I have not had it to the dealer since Dec 2002. Regular oil changes, Sunoco or Mobil premium, WOT about once or twice a week to keep 'er clean, and 22MPG overall. Can't really complain.

i think 14k is a good deal, if not a great deal. a few months back my parents bought a 99 with twice the milage (almost) for something between 11 and 12 i believe, its got plenty of options. heated seats...oh how id love to have heated seats....wake me up someone, surely im dreaming again.

I don't own a 99 but I have a 97. The price is really good I paid 10,200 for my 97 with 30.582 miles (Base Mode) Blue on Blue.
The only problems I had...
A/C Compressor
Rackinpionion ( I guess that how its spelled) :shhh:
All were covered by Members choice Extended Warranty
So I would have to say the lower the miles the better

I've only had my triple black DeVille Delegance for around six months now but I like it more each time I get behind the wheel. No problems as of yet but it's now got only 35,000 miles on it. It had 31,000 when I got it.The handling characteristics will take some getting used to going from an 'F' Body. (I traded down from an '03 SVT F150 Lightning :crying2: ... Don't ask!) Just don't push it hard in the corners. Brake gently before execution, accelerate from the apex and you won't have any surprises. Mine's still got the original Michelins on it at about half tread depth. I can't reccomend these tires enough! Sounds like a decent deal if the car is super clean and unmolested. Mine was around the $10,000 mark. Low-ball them on the price and act indifferent. These cars are out there and plentiful. All they can do is say no. You'll most likely enjoy the car. They're a great ride!

Thanks for the help guys, the black one I was going to look at was sold by the time I got hold of the dealership but I'm in Florida so it shouldn't be too hard to find a low mileage senior owned Deville. I'll be posting when I find the car I want. Thanks again.
