Well you can check the codes to find out why the check engine light came on in the first place :) Check ebay for the owners manual or get it from the dealer.

I think it's just like every other one that you press off and warmer to get the codes. There are a few posts around here about that and the change oil light. I don't have the change oil light so I don't have to worry about that :)
I like the arm rests they have for the front and back seats. It's nice to have a cupholder in my 1991 but it's stuck on there so cheap that my drink jumps around and splashes out :disappoin
my friends 94 fwb check engine light comes on. theres nothing wrong but when you get to so high mileage it kicks on. how many miles it got? change oil light=turn the car on, dont start it, pump the gas 3 times in five seconds. i did that in the 93 and it kicked off but going down the interstate it turned back on so whatever. my traction control light and door ajar lights kick on alot, i dont know if anyone else does. they hardly ever turn on and they are dim unless the door is ajar, its bright, and when traction control kicks in its bright. oh well i dont know. and also the twighlight sentinel in mine messes things up like the radio (stock) and the dash lights flicker so i turned it off. other than that it is a pretty solid car. if the previous owner of mine took better care it would be in mint condition. thats about everything i know. good luck hope you get it. hey check out the general non model discussion and help vote for the next dub car if ya havent already.

If I was buying it from a used car dealer, I'd be telling him if he wanted to sell me that car, HE'D better find out what's up with the check engine light. It shouldn't be your problem from the day you take it home.

Congrats 92brougham I hope you enjoy the car. Before you take the car check the codes Just press off and warmer on the climate control then press outside temp and you'll see the codes flash on the climate control screen. I have the 95 fwb factory manual so I wont be able to tell what the codes is but somebody has to know the obd II codes on the forum. just post them...
Do a search for more info on retrieving trouble codes you'll find the info...
When I bought my 94 FW from a local used car dealer, the check engine light kept coming on. They couldn't figure it out. I finally went to an official GM site online and found a bulletin that said it needed to have the eprom reburned. They finally took the module out of my car and to a Caddy dealer where they reburned. After reinstallation, there has been no recurrence of the check engine light. :)

The procedure for resetting the oil life light on my '94 is to floor the accelerator 3 times with the engine off but the ignition on. If you are going to live with this car for a long time, go to EBay and get the shop manual.
