OH boy lots of things :) right now it is like a brown with tan inside. but like i said i brought it to the shop this morning, to get painted. it will be purple with ghost patterns all in it and i am putting a full carriage style roof on it! then the inside will all be re done as well. it will be different shades of purple leather. i am having the head rests made bigger to fit some tv's in it. a plexi-glass system will be in it. i already have the rims ordered as well, wires of course! and the last thing will be the hydro's! this was kind of a last minute thing. me and my dad had been talking about getting one for quite some time but like a 67. well we saw this one yesterday and couldnt turn it down. for $1200 it was the best deal i have ever come accross! i think that's about all i want to do to it. Oh and the front end rolls royce style! after it's all done, its play time for me and the caddy! i have to think of a name for her now though. it will all be done by december the latest. that is the deadline. and i forgot this morning to take pics of it before any work was done. so i will have to go back and get some before he starts on it. once i get them i will have to take pics all through her makeover!

Awsome Mike! Have you had any problem with paint peel on the plastic part of the air cleaner assembly?

illumina
08-19-04, 06:25 PM
paint peeling and flaking is not a big problem as it is high-heat paint. however, if you leave oil and other fluids or nic it with a tool, there may be some flaking. the skeletons are just part of my rather strange personality. (probably caused the ex - insert "kiss of death" here - girlfriend to run around with some guy with the bmw). oh, BTW, did i mention how much i hate bimmers?

ps. thanks for the nice replies.

well hun, i hate to burst your bubble but your'e heading for disaster, i have a candy and flaked 85 coupe with a e&g grille, i was going to juice it but there are a few problems, number one being that the front struts will have to be made exactly right, if it lifts too high, your c/v joints will pull right out of the tranny, i mean you could get around this by welding chains in to limit suspension movement, but who the hell wants to hear jingly ass chains rattling all the time unless you have it locked up

the other problem is in the rear suspension, its simple to juice but you will end up with bent a arms and really bad camber, so you will have to have custom ones made, and well thats just not cheap, trust me, i have homie who went through 4 sets of rear a-arms in two years, no matter how you reinforce them, they still bend, these were done in 1/4 inch plate and they still bent, i wouldn't lie to you, its just a warning, i'm going to bag mine cuz i love a cadillac ride, and its a simple bolt in project,

here's my coupe http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/shredder130/my%20car/c37e01d3.jpg
good luck with your project, :D :welcome:

LOL LOL you guys are too funny! i am having a very bad day today! i was supposed to get the rims that i bought last week. well it gets shipped to the wrong address and gets sent all the way back to cali. and now i am still WAITING! and the ups tracking thing is stuck or something. it has said sacramento cali for 3 days now. then i heard that they arent going to fit on the car. i dont see why they wouldnt fit. i have asked some people and they say yes. then i hear from some guy today that the biggest you can put on the car is 17's. I SAID NO WAY, THATS INSANE! so i really am praying that they will fit!

blackcaddy
08-23-04, 10:51 PM
I believe 17s are about as big as you can put on those models. My 87 has the cup for the spring that looks like it will interfere with the larger wheel. Unless you use a hell of a spacer to get the wheel farther out.

shredder130
08-24-04, 12:03 AM
yes but if you remember right she is bagging it, most likely she will have air cylinders so she won't have to deal with that spring cup :rolleyes2 :lildevil: :suspect:

Guess what???????? Due to the hurricane the car won't be done for a few more days now! last week i stopped by and saw it and it was all primered and just about ready to go! everything was on schedule and was supposed to be done yesterday, but NOOOOOOOOO because of stupid frances it had to get put off. and now we have ivan coming our way! but now i am kind of hoping that it wont be done until after that this way she will stay in the garage where she could be safe. there is no room in my home garage for her, my parents care are in there and i dont blame my dad for not wanting to put his truck outside!

I wonder if your autobody shop will be backed up because of any other vehicles damaged from these storms? Did they say how long it might take? Remember, new paint shouldn't be washed or waxed for at least a month (or so I've read) because the new paint needs time to breathe and "cure." I hope that if it get placed on your driveway soon, that it won't rain for a while.

PurpleDeville
09-08-04, 04:53 PM
well my brother in law's brother is doing it for me on the side ao i am not worried about it taking longer due to cars getting damaged by the storm ya know. he does body work, restoring cars, painting, etc. at a shop but he also does it on the side so that's the way i went since i trust him and all. i dont even know what the ghost patterns are going to be of, i left that up to him. i just said i DO NOT want flames, so we shall see. he just did a complete restoration of a car it came out sooooo nice. it was the front of one car and the back of another and he ripped it all apart and just re did the entire thing, so the wait is worth it with him, but i am just so excited to get it already.

Stoneage_Caddy
09-08-04, 07:38 PM
DAMN ! i thought it was done already .....

Where is it on the suspseion and rims ?

been keeping my eyes peeled in that area for 3 days now ...go figure why i hadnt seen it yet ......

PurpleDeville
09-08-04, 07:49 PM
LOL LOL the rims are at mancini's on ridge road. i am waiting until its done being painted to have them put on! they were supposed to be done first but i had trouble with the guy that sold me the rims so it took longer. once its painted and the rims are on then it is getting the interior done so it will be away from me for another week! then the air bags are getting put on last! the system is already done though :)

read through some of the posts in this thread... saw one about teh fuel data center saying "E" even though you filled the tank... dont know if you fixed it or not...

had this happen to me, and it was simply because i had a fuse out. check all your fuses... not sure which one protects the sending unit.

PurpleDeville
09-09-04, 01:57 PM
hey! no the a/c is not fixed yet :( but that is another thing i need to get done. i dont even kn ow where the fuses would be located at to take a look at them???????

cad_90
09-09-04, 08:35 PM
under the dash/steering column on the left side. there's a panel that comes off easy. it has a diagram of what each fuse does.

Ralph
09-09-04, 08:52 PM
Depends where the maxi fuses were for 1985. (not the regular fuses) Mine are on the firewall, engine side behind a black plastic panal on the passenger side.

PD, maybe tell your brother-in-law to look for them if he has time.
