I just got my car back from Dealer. They did a great job of installing front and rear ambients on my 4/09 V. I did not have either upon delivery.
Dealer order and installed for free. I am very happy now.
So we now know it is possible to have rear ambients on Recaro Seats.
I spoke to tech before install and he commented that he was just like me with cars and he assured me he would tape off everything
so there were no scratches on any trim. It took him 3 hours to do front and rear but that included the time to tape.

Cool, glad it worked out for you. My dealer just said the car just wasn't equipped with them and left it at that.
So, did they plug the rears into the left side of the dash as the instructions referenced by the other thread stated (reason for removing center console), or did they plug under the rear seat (center console removal not required)?

Seat and center console were removed. I asked to look at the instructions that came with the parts and the instructions were identical to the pdf that was previously posted. I even checked the name and date of revision to be sure.

OK. I am glad that cbloveday is happy with his front and rear footwell ambient lighting with Recaro seats. Now, has it determined whether or not stock seats are supposed to have rear ambient lights? As I stated in a previous post, no one has actually seen ambient lighting in the rear footwells with stock seats, and I can find no power for them in the factory service manual.
Also, there is a reference to "the instructions were identical to the pdf that was previously posted." I cannot find this PDF and am wondering if it was ever actually posted.

I was referring to this PDF that covers the installation of rear ambient lighting
I cannot ascertain if non recaro Vs are supposed to have rear ambient lighting.
Perhaps you should start a thread specifically requesting all members list their build date, their seats, and whether they have rear ambients or not. Also what their window sticker states.
I was only able to determine that some have it and some do not.
If you have some questions related to the wiring, you could call GM accessories @ 1-866-756-5680
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, I just bit the bullet and had it done.
What dealer did you get that done at? im in Lombard by Heritage Cadillac.

If I had to pay for parts and labor, I would have only done the front.
I never have rear passengers and you cannot see the rear lights from front seat.
It is very subtle.
You have to be in the back seat to see the rear ambient lights.

My window sheet just says in "interior accent lighting" - does not mention specifics.

OK cbloveday. Looked at the installation PDF (thanks for the pointer) for the rear footwell LEDs, and it pretty well explains why there is no wiring shown for rear footwell ambient lights in the factory manual. According to the PDF you must add the wiring to get power for the rear footwell LEDs (after jumping through many hoops, removing consoles, etc.). I think I will take your suggestion regarding a separate thread for the answer to my question.
