Hi folks,

I'm trying to work out what generator my '59 SDV should have. It currently has a Delco Remy unit which is marked 1101 088. As far as I can find out this seems to be an aviation unit; it certainly doesn't appear to be original. Does anyone know what should be fitted?

That looks more like a newer style alternator. There's a 1959 Eldorado on ebay that has some nice engine pictures. Maybe that will show you what you're looking for?

Thats a Delcotron 10SI- it's an excellent changeover if you aren't looking for originality. I don't have time right now, but let me see if I can come up with the right unit. In the meantime, try hemmings.com- literally the bible of the old car hobby. Also, Google up Memory Lane Auto Wrecking in Sun Valley, CA (LA Metro area). Excellent yard for what you need.
