Recently my 96 FW needs a drink of starting fluid to get started. Without the starting fluid, it will turn over until it drain the battery. A shot of S/F and its good for the entire day, runs like a champ, can park it and restart all day. At night when I park and come out the next morning, it need S/F again to get it started for the day.
Any suggestions as to what is going on ? ?

Thanks - hap :cookoo:

The fuel pump is supposed to prime and provide 40lbs of pressure when the key is turned to RUN (one click before starting). Doesn't sound like this is happening. With the car off, and in a quiet location, you should be able to hear the pump prime for a couple of seconds when you turn the key to RUN. It is obviously working when the car is started, however. May not be the FP, it might be something causing the FP not to prime.

I agree with above,
change the filter first, thats a ten min job
if that doesnt help, have the fuel pressure checked,
theres a fitting on the rear of the fuel rail for that purpose
then tell us what you have....

40lbs, why does it take so much to start?

It is MPFI instead of TBI that only runs at around 8lbs.
