I have a 97 catera and I believe I have a fuel pump issue. My car will not start and I disconnected the fuel lines on the motor and had someone turn the key and they did not have any pressure. Does anyone know if it is possible to test a fuel pump relay. If so explain how. I would like to test this before spending money on a fuel pump. Thanks

I have the same issue on my 00 Cat. I took the cover off the relay, and pushed the contact arm, and still nothing. I don't have the relay in front of me, so I can't tell you which one it is to jump atm. I'll look at my relay tomorrow and let you know.

I did notice Rockauto.com has great prices on the pump, just FYI.

Okay, if you jump the two larger plugs on the relay, that should start the pump.

Mine did not start, till I hit the gas tank with a hammer, with those two pins jumped, then it came on. So in my case, it is a fuel pump. I reinstalled the relay, and the car started. Didn't run real good, but it started.

If I can get home with it light out, I'll take some pics of what I did, if you need me 2.

Hope this helps.
