Not crazy about the color combo but an interesting old car. I would drive it.

I like the colour combo. Minty fresh! Cool car too! I'd drive the hell out of that.

It doesn't mention it in the listing but it looks like it has a sunroof too! Wonder if that was the inspiration for the new CTS SW?

Honestly, I'd drive the hell out of it too, just to see the looks on people's faces.

I think I'd become a CLC member if I owned that too. Rarity factor = win.

That's kinda neat. Not a fan of the color combo, and it's not a D'Elegance.

LOL the "ESTATE" badging is off a Buick! Interesting and nicely done conversion, but there's more here than the seller's telling.

Those aren't the correct door panels for an 81. I think those are later 80s seats, too.

These wagons were coachbuilt, just like the LeCabriolet and Paris convertibles, the pickups, flowercars, limos, etc.

I was thinking it looked a little more updated than an '81. I wonder what the full story is on it.

No matter how good it may look, its still just a Caprice with new skin.

Not true. The frame is different on the D body Cadillac (longer). This car is not built off a Caprice wagon. It is a coachbuilt Cadillac.

So a caprice is a B body and a Caddy is a D body? Does the D body frame have more H beams(if thats what there called) or is it just extended at some point in the frame. I've been looking for info on frames for a while and cant seem to any info.

Yes, the Caprice (and Impala/Roadmaster/Custom Cruiser/Parisienne/Bel Air and probably some I am forgetting) is a B body. The D body is 4" longer, mostly in the rear passenger section.

All the frame dimensions are in the FSMs.

There was a 1991 Cadillac Wagon like this for sale in the CLC magazine a few years back. I thought that would be a neat car to own.

Also is my Monitor off on color?---> " Beautifully done two-toning in silver and white with an exceptionally nice grey leather interior"

Plus he said the tailgate was rusting, I had a 1983 Olds custom cruiser and the tailgate was fiberglass (I know this cause of a mishap with a hammer, don't ask) Did they make that style tailgate in steel?

Are u sure? It looks like someone just put a Caddy exterior and interior into a Caprice.

Look at the rear side doors. Very cadillac, not Caprice like at all. As a matter of fact it would look nicer if it was (not sure how you'd stretch a Caprice door, but the only thing that bothers me about this conversion is the side windows don't line up from the Cadillac to B-body wagon windows. They start with a Cadillac and add the sheetmetal from GM stock. If you think about it, either way is a lot of work.

It has a green hue to it to me as well, if that's what you were referring to with color combo.

I just thought it was unusual, and you guys would like it.

Yes, I'm sure. Hang on, I'll go find more pics and see if I can come up with the brochure or an ad. Look at those rear doors. Those are Cadillac doors, and they don't fit a Caprice...

Here's one that is the same:

They made them all through the 70s, too:

I like this one best:

...and, ta da, an ad for one in the 60s:

This site should provide lots of interesting viewing:

It makes me giggle that seatbelts were optional equipment, and that wagons were marketed toward men.

I think those 80s ones are kinda cool. Ive seen one for sale a while ago with all the 90s trim on it. THat light blue one with Colorado plates was on ebay a few years ago. Or at least if it wasn't that one it was one alot like it. I forget the story about it now.
