This is a cross post from one of my forums. The database is exremely detailed. One hell of a find.

Oh and my '05 Stealth Grey V is 1 of 471.

It's been in Seville and Deville for a couple of weeks now. Don't get carried away by a "one-in-10,000" finding: One of those "unknown" line check sequence RPO's will interpret as "rare". Already been discussed.

Yeah, I'm taking this one with a grain of salt lol.

According to it, my Deville is one of three exactly like it. I find that impossible to believe.

Nothing found for that VIN Number. It may be that we don't have it in the database yet, but be sure to check that you have typed it correctly. :(

But I already know mine is 1 of 12,212 because it has the d'Elegance option.

Though it is strange... The dealership also says my car doesn't exist. I was having them look up parts and they were searching based on the VIN, and their computer kept telling them "invalid VIN."

I have more common sense (and good to see a few others do, too) than to look at unknowns. I'm not that desperate. Not interested in discussing it anyway. Just thought this very informative site should be shared with a wider group. Hence cross posting in the "Lounge" section.

But, I did pay for and got a kick ass car (and a certain level of exclusivity, I guess) when I bought my V.

I thought it was cool to find out there were only 471 Stealth Grey's painted in '05.

That's cause they didn't start keeping record of VIN numbers until the early 90's. The parts guy/service writer at the dealer should have known that.

These are the same douchebags that swore up and down that my car could never possibly be carburetted, and then said it wasn't the original engine when I showed them the carburettor.

Was the original engine TBI? If so, they're ****ing retarded lol

They kept saying my engine had to be TBI for '89.

The 1990 Cadillac Brougham, with the 5.0 engine, was the last carburetted passenger car produced in the united states. Mine is an '89 and has the original Oldsmobile 307, which was the last carburetted engine produce for the American public.

Wow. Even it was TBI, TBI was really just a conversion of an engine made for a carburetor to FI so its pretty easy to switch between the two.

Wow, 2,937 made with NightVision but yet only 1,296 made with Nav. Go figure.

And check this out

There are 1 2001 DEVILLE TOURING 4 DR vehicles (0.007%) matching your exact options list.
There are 1 (0.007%) with at least as many options.
The rarity of your vehicle is based on an exact match of your options for your year and model.

I got some more believable numbers when I did my other family member's cars:

my sisters '93 was 1 of 763
our '92 parts car was 1 of 357
the '93 daily driver was 1 of 213
my dad's '93 was 1 of 12.

I still find the 1 of 12 unbelievable, as well as the 1 of 3 from earlier.

Apparently my Regal GS is one of eight built exactly like it. Cool to know.

I found another way beside putting in the VIN. Just above the VIN box, there's a "Click Here" button where you can check you vehicle's rarety by the RPO codes. You can put them in one by one and see how other cars of the same year, make, and model had that code assigned to them, or you can put in all of your codes and hope it spits out an answer (some of them come up with no information so you will have to go through and find them anyway). So I went through my RPO and entered each code individually, until I knew which codes were good then I entered them all in at once.

Of the 1989 Cadillac Brougham's in their database:
984 Had gold emblems
1231 exterior molding
1291 had Carpeted floor mats and trunk
1291 had edge guard
114 had Var 1 emblems
1181 Had Rear Axle Ratio 2.93
299 Had interior design
1228 had wire wheel covers
1286 Had AM/FM with Cassette
379 had leather seats
113 had blue leather
1290 had option 3
198 had dark sapphire molding
192 had dark sapphire top
198 were painted Dark Sapphire blue
537 Had FRT/RR computer suspension

It came out that my car is 1 of 1 ever built with that code combination. Problem, there are only 1,296 '89 Brougham's in their database out of the 20,000 built. So those of you who are having trouble believing that your car is in the top 10 of the only ones ever built, look at how many cars they have in the data base compared to however many were built.

YEa, the problem isnt they havent entered all the VIN'S in yet. I tried my old CTS Vin#, and it wasnt found. I tried my new CTS VIN# and it says Im 1 of 1. I realize its fully loaded and the color combo is rare, but I also know someone else with the exact same car. Which leads me to believe that thier VIN# isnt in there yet either. :)
