on my 87' seville, i had the same thing. turns out that was the speed governor limiting my speed to 85 mph. i do feel though it was going a little faster, but not real sure. now my 91 seville on the other hand...

That's not a speed governor. Well, in a way the NHTSA was hoping it would be. I don't remember the exact years ('76-'94?) but the Feds required that all speedometers highlight 55 mph, and end at 85 mph. That blinking means you've exceeded the speedo's limits. :lildevil: There were certain exceptions- police cars being the notable ones- that could exceed that, but not many. The 55 highlight went away a few years before the 85 limit. All of this was part of the regulatory BS that went with the NMSL (the national 55 limit). We still have idiotic speedlimits on our freeways, but at least you can now fudge it a bit and actually get somewhere before nightfall. :rant2:

Do what an old friend of mine who had a genuine Mini Cooper did- he pasted a label over it saying "Ignore it- just go faster" :lildevil:
