i have a 89 deville and when i got it i remember the door key holes lighting up when i pressed the entry button on the door handle. but jut the other day i realized that i havent seen it happen since that first time i saw it.
it was the first and the last lol.
how can i correct this???

It is actually illuminated via a fiber optic setup similar to the fender indicators for the signals. Sometimes you can see the bulb housing by just removing the window switches. That can be done by finding the end of the switches with the access notch, and inserting a screwdriver to depress the clip, while lifting up. The lights should be on any time the domelights are.
If I remember correctly, the illumination came from a fibre optic line running from the door courtesy light bezel to the lock cylinder. pop the lens off the courtesy lights with a small screw driver under the edge of the lens, then remove the bezel. hopefully you will see the fibre cable disconnected at that end. It uses it's own bulb that's in a little round holder that clips onto the door panel. If you can't see it where Dave said you might have to take the door panel right off to get to it.
