Hey forum!
This is my first post and I'm seriously considering purchasing an (all black 2004-2007) STS-V within 3-6 months. I love the looks and performance potential of this car with the supercharged v8 and AWD (I heard some STS-V's are AWD) and of course room for 5 since I have a family.

The specs kind of reminds me of my GMC Typhoon which is turbo charged automatic and AWD (runs the quarter in the 12's) kind of rare but I'm sure the STS-V is a hell of allot more reliable than my TY would ever be, amongst other things-LOL

I'm somewhat of a Tuner/Hobbyist and I already have thoughts of doing some basic upgrades, such as alky injection, exhaust and a smaller pulley to up the boost a little, maybe some staggered 21" inch rims/tires. I'd like to get about 500hp to the crank, if possible, nothing major.

Had a few questions though:

Is the tranny a 4l80E? Hope so.
How reliable are the engines?
Is their a software ECM programmers available?
Which STS-V is AWD or is this a myth?
What will I be getting myself into?

Thanks in advance .
Zav.

All STS-V are RWD. They were made from 2006 to 2009. I would purchase a certified pre-owned to get the extended warranty.

That will be the 6L80E Transmission
Engines are mostly troublefree - change the oil and go

Only RWD
A very enjoyable car you won't be disappointed.

So no AWD on the V's. Darn, guess I'll have to live without it...

Can't go wrong with a 6L80E with 470HP!

Thanks for the clarification.
