Lol, what a moron. Of course, I have heard worst stories.

This sort of stuff is not uncommon. Right here on Kent Island we have young folks at the high school that drive a number of various ricers. They frequent the parts stores and additive shelves but never check oil levels or change the oil and filter. It's almost as if their cars are a throw-away toy like their Ipods and laptops. Kids have no inquisitive mechanical knowledge nowadays: they're too occupied playing computer games or sneaking a cigarette behind a tree.

(Every now and then I take a break from Olds 455's and work part time at a local NAPA/engine build shop as a parts runner - keeps me busy and you see a lot of stuff that makes you shake your head in disbelief.)

Like my story, posted in CF a couple of years ago: Local Johnny wanted to impress the after-school tire screech crowd, so he gets a NOx bottle, valve, and flex tubing. Punches a hole in the firewall and runs the tube into the air cleaner box. Puts Susie in the passenger seat with the bottle between her legs. At 3:30 starts up, pulls into the road and says "Susie, when I punch it, you open the valve !". The entire lower half of the Toyota 6 came off. The oil and gunk is still splattered 200 yards down Old Love Point Road.

Anyone that goes 60K without an oil change deserves what he gets.

That is similar to what my fathers 78 Ford 350 looked like when I replaced a worn cam, but he did religious 3K oil changes. The problem was the 10W40 oils of the early 80's.

Hahha, that pretty much explains those idiots. Admittedly, I don't have that much mechanical knowledge, but that's because the vehicles I drive aren't technially mine, so I don't want to F*** with them. That being said, I try to learn as much as I can, mainly from here....and most of all, I change my oil.

FWIW, An improperly operating PCV system can do that to a crankcase/valve area in 10,000 miles.

Exactly. That's me, for now. I honestly look FORWARD to fixing my own car when I get the chance. I can't stand people who just treat them, like you said, like another iPod or cell phone. It's a car, dammit.

And I learned how to change the oil in a car when I was 9. Thank you dad. Unfortunately, since I was about 15, it's been my sole responsibility to change the oil in every vehicle in our household. (Crafty bastard and his double-edged trickery :()

Note: Don't get the wrong idea, I love my dad and respect him a lot. I am of course kidding.

A friend of mine bought a Ford Escort 1.8L Turbo Diesel with 140,000 on the clock.
He kept it until it had over 180,000 on it and never changed the oil.
It was totalled by someone driving into it.

So that's 40,000 with zero oil changes.
Was still running sweet too...

(I know it's a very bad thing to do but he only paid $80 for the car so...)

Frankly, that guy with the BMW doesn't deserve to get it fixed. There is absolutely NO REASON to go 60k on an oil change. In reading the forum posts, he said something like "reasons I won't mention." What? No money? Why are you driving a BMW? You can't afford an oil change twice a year? Come on now. That's unreal.

Hope he wrecks it. It's mean, I know, but seriously. That's just plain idiocy. Please natural selection, do your job.

I had the same Sears lawnmower for thirty years and never changed the oil or added to it all that time. It ran just as good as the day I bought it when I finally gave it away because the self-propelled feature had given up the ghost. The benefit of oil changing is overrated. LOL

We were discussing this car on bobistheoilguy.com
Some folks posted pictures of cars that bought with similar sludge. They ran Auto RX and Marvel Myster oil with normal oil through for short OCI's and were actually able to get MOST of it cleaned out.
However, it escapes me as to why someone would do this.

It looks like someone coated the Bimmer's engine in chocolate sauce and powered sugar. Bimmer Split? BMW Sundae? Only missing a cherry and whipped cream on top. The owner, of course, is the nut.

Looks to me more like the car never saw highway use or even warmed up properly. That's where you get sludge from. My mother in law had a new car and after about a year I happened to check the oil. It was heavy and Black almost like gear oil. I asked her when she last had the oil changed. Her answer was "what is that?"

My aunt had a '87 Civic and didnt change its oil for almost 4 years. Drove it everyday. The hood latch broke and she just never thought to change it. That car had almost 300k miles on it when it finally died.

Civic's may be "lame" and "boring", but there isnt a GM car made that could handle that kind of abuse and then go another 200k+ miles. The only thing ive ever seen, personally, was a 565k mile Lumina fleet vehicle that my auction got in one day. Though im sure it went through an engine or two and was serviced religiously.

I love GM with a passion, but im also not blind and not a fool (when it comes to recognizing quality; I of course, am a complete fool in all other areas).

You might want to spend some time with a few 3800 powered cars, 4.3 cars or LSX cars. You might be suprised. Not sure what you base that statement off of. I have personally seen a 4.3 goe years without an oil change and still go to 300,000 miles in an S10 Blazer. It was mine. I got it fromt he neighbor. Have you ever seen an LS1 car with 200,000 miles run 13.68. I have. It was former Patrol car, purchased on Ebay by a very good friend. 10,000 mile OCI. That is horrible for a car that Idles and was hammered on for years, just rolled 300,000 miles this summer. There are plenty of GM car that can handle that abuse without a new motor. You may want to check some of the other GM sites and read the stories of LSX trucks that have gone over 100,000 miles without an oil change while towing.
Not to mention the slew of GM cars out there that have been abuse and continue to run. Not sure why you would say that.

Im a complete ****ing idiot and i have no knowledge of anything that has to do with anything. I have no idea what im talking about...ever. Basically, i suck. Completely. I talk out of my ass on almost every post and have no experience or knowledge to back it up. I should probably kill myself.

Is everyone happy now?

I base 95% of my opinions off of personal experience, and though my opinions may be a bit "different" than that of the average "i have a huge boner for GM and am blind to anything foreign" crowd, i have owned and driven more cars than the majority of the people on this forum, even at the young age of 22. Im not some idiot that just spouts off at the mouth with no real, tangible, experience or backing behind it.

My views on almost everything in life differs from most of you. Thats cool. I get it. Im just here to give my two cents.

Haha V-Eight. That is very, very true. My neighbor's in Maine owned two dirt track cars and travelled to the tracks all over the place. They towed the cars with this beat up Chevy 1500. That thing had like 400k on it from going all over the place.

Whoa, calm down bro. No one called you an Idiot. Just asked you a question and made a few suggestion. Remeber when you asked me about my Mazda three comment or look at the way you asked the quetion in the Japanese car thread. Those were folks opinions, just like yours was here.

I say stupid shit on here all the time. Sometime to get a rile out of foks sometimes just to be a Dick, no matter I usually aplogize. Just ask Chad.

Now back to your original comment. It is just that opinion. Here is why.
There are actual internet sites for documented GM cars with over 300,000 miles on the original drive train, some with less than good maintenance. Your statment was based of such a small percentage of cars it dosen't take into account the Millions of GM vehicles out there working a lot harder than say, your grandma's Civic. Your statment is based off your experience with what you or your friends were rolling around in from GM and that is fine. But is dosen't take into account the Millions of other folks with GM vehicles. There are even a couple of sites dedicated to some 1,000,000 million mile vans out there. My point is you made it sound like longevity, with poor maintenance is only for Honda. This is not the case. Even Motor Trend and Consumers Reports, which I hate, have said in the past nothing will run as long with poor maintenance and countine to run then some GM stuff we have seen. Automible said and this is funny " A GM will run bad forever, but they seem to always run once most cars would have stopped."

No one said you were not allowed to throw in your two cents, but so is everyone else. So if you ask someone why, don't be suprised if you get the same question back later.

You are right. I tend to get a bit worked up and defensive, especially lately. But thats because i kind of feel alone on here, and then i feel i got an unfair and unjust infraction for from an Admin that just didnt like what i had to say, because i didnt start anything.

I still throw out stupid shit all the time some for fun, but some I acutally believe. There are a few boards I go to where guys feel just like me so we crap on X brand all the time. I think if you were to ask Chad and Jesda, they will tell you I have mellowed. Blackout used to spin up me up good. Not sure what happened to him, but he sure was fun sometimes.

Hate to say this,I am one of these people.I have had numerous trucks that I never changed the oil in,top dog was a Toyota that I put over 100,000 miles on it without a change.Every 5,10,000 miles pull the filter put a new one on ,top off the oil and go on with your life.It might shorten the life of an engine but I doubt it,however i only do this to high mileage oil consuming engines not new euro trash.
