The vinyl top on my '79 DeVille is showing age, there are a couple of cuts about 1/4" long, and not sure if it is because of me driving threw a big hail storm, or if it was there, but alot of smaller cracks in the vinyl. When it rains, it lets the padded roof absorb water, and may start rusting out the metal roof.... what is the best way to fix this? I was thinking just to get some silicone sealant, but i don't think that would look good.... at first i wanted to just take the roof off and get the car painted in the future, but the paint is in really good condition, and even though I don't like the color (Canary Yellow) I can't see runing nice, origanal paint (plus I want to do the engine swap first).... so what is the best way to try and save the vinyl top?
