well i was putting air in my tires and noticed there is a large lip on the edge of my rotors, i bought this car used with 36k on it and have had it for a year and a half, don't feel any pulsing yet, but I think it is time for brakes. I have the JE5 brake option, I bought Centric rotors and Duralast ceramic gold pads( my friend has these pads and there is a lifetime warranty on them,he put 10k miles on them, brought them back and they just gave him new ones). Spent @ $430 (w/ free shiping) for all, will install soon and let all know

I had a large lip on my rotors, as well. I just installed new ceramic pads on them and all seems well.

I didn't see a need to replace them since they weren't warped.

I am getting ready to replace the pads on my 05 with almost 50,000 miles on it. I bought the Duralast ceramic pads. Why would your friend have to replace ceramic pads at 10k miles? I was planning on them lasting a lot longer than that!

Duralast CMAX pads are pretty good. If you get the CMAX or the better option, it comes with new metal slide brackets.. The other don't. I got the one step down for the wifes car as they where out.. Her's squeel, mine are great. Low brake dust also.

I take a DA sander with a good heavy grit to take the lip off.. I have 2 pairs of rotors, when I knew I was going to be doing brakes or taking a tire off, I would have a clean cut rotor ready to go, but finding somebody to cut them is getting harder. I would always say, just a cleanup, not a heavy cut. They would tell me they where out of spec.. ( funny .. not by my mic. ) Just got old.. So now I do a quicky cleanup with a DA.
