My apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place. Any new Info on converting from analog to digital on the 1991, 1992 & 1993 Deville's? I've had 3 of these and I just can't seem to pick one up with a digital dash. I'd be willing to give it a shot. I have a hoopty Deville to mess around with that might soon be going to the junkyard. Not to worried about messing that one up if something goes wrong. My local salvage yard wants 150 to 200 for that digital cluster. But for 100 to 300 bucks you could look for a whole Deville again "hopefully" with a digital cluster.

I just realized that I might have posted in the wrong area. To the veterans of this site, should this be in "Cadillac Deville 1985 to 2005 including:
1985-1992 Fleetwood, 1993 Sixty Special. " If it is, I'll move on over there.

Thanks

Converting to digital instruments is actually pretty simple, the only complication is that the mileage will most likely need to be reset.

I actually have a digital dash from a '90, it will work in a 91-93 (same cluster) but it's missing the Oil Life warning light. That's the only reason I haven't used it in my own '91.

I'm sure a moderator will move the thread when he spots it. No need to make another. :)

Thanks! I'm not to worried about the oil life light being that my engines aren’t allowed to see more than 2000 miles before the oil is changed. Are the miles on the digital cluster in the 90 to 93 Deville's have the registered mileage in the cluster itself or is it in the computer? If it's in the cluster, that would be good. Other than the oil life light is it just plug and play or do I need to convert some plugs? Thanks for your response.

^ I believe the mileage in the analog cluster is stored in the cluster itself, while the computer stores the mileage if you have the digital cluster.

As for the plug compatibility, I'm pretty sure its just plug and play, but I'll look in my FSM for a confirmation.

I have done this conversion on my 1985 Coupe Deville Diesel. i believe the 91-93 is similar. The cluster will plug into the analog harness but you will need to add a connector that plugs into the top of the cluster. This connector supplies the voltage drive for the Gas florescent display from the Body Computer. I spliced it in to the supply wire to the Climate Controller. I also remember needing to splice the speedometer pulse feed from the old analog cluster harness to the upper connector. The upper connector also needs ground and power to it.

I spliced all of this without changing the original harness allowing me to revert back to the analog cluster if i wanted to in the future.

A Factory Service Manual and Wiring diagram are a must.

I believe the mileage is stored on a replaceable chip on the Digital cluster board. One of the service bulletins recommends that this chip be removed when the cluster is returned for service and then replaced when the cluster is reinstalled in the customers car. This allows the car to keep the correct odometer reading when replacing the cluster.

Good luck and have a great day!

Great thanks! Did the back of your cluster look something like this and than it's all about a few wire configurations and were good to go? Seems easier than I thought. I think I'm going to dive into this one. The direction mode mechanism thingy, did that need to be removed also?

Yes it did. Here is the connector location i was referring to.
