RightTurn 11-07-09, 03:10 AM Because all threads about problems with the site go here. And as you see, there are lots of people having issues with the albums. txbest1980 11-07-09, 04:07 AM there is only one other person than myself that has spoken on this issue, so how can you state that lots of people are having this problem... submariner409 11-07-09, 09:20 AM txbest1980, Cadillac Forums is a car enthusiast's site for Cadillac owners, not just CTS owners. This particular Forum is the vehicle for asking questions on a variety of IT issues and member computer problems concerning the site, not an individual category. If you would take the time to look at a couple of threads, near this one in this forum, you'll see that the problem was discovered, questioned by several members, and is being addressed since it cropped up a couple of weeks ago.
Just like your CTS Forums: you post a question in the correct threads and it gets answered. Sal is working on it guys. Be patient. Like us, he has a daytime job though, so this site cannot get his full attention.
Bear with it, all will be fixed in time. oh and TX, ALOT of people are having the photo album problem. It is just that most people pm a mod or admin when they see a problem. txbest1980 11-07-09, 03:53 PM jimmy...i have PM'd a mod and have had no response...i have even PM'd you about something before and never got a response... txbest1980 11-07-09, 03:56 PM submariner...i understand that it isnt just about the CTS, heck i own 3 different types of Cadillac myself, i just posted there because there tends to be a lot more feedback there than in any of the other sections i read thru...also, i cant even pull this paticular forum most of the time from the main page submariner409 11-07-09, 05:27 PM  Understood................We're all searching for answers on this one. I'm not an Admin or anything - just waiting to find out the fix because this bug seems more widespread than meets the eye. txbest1980 11-07-09, 05:51 PM i believe it all started when that damn twitter thing came up on the sides of our screen that everybody hated RightTurn 11-07-09, 08:06 PM there is only one other person than myself that has spoken on this issue, so how can you state that lots of people are having this problem...
You have to look at other threads on this board. :thepan: http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/site-news-feedback-questions-suggestions/183643-my-picture-album-link-broken.html txbest1980 11-07-09, 08:14 PM ...also, i cant even pull this paticular forum most of the time from the main page
righturn...if you read my other post (above), i cant even get onto this part of the forum...the only way i can access this is by going thru the link on the CTS portion... submariner409 11-07-09, 08:19 PM You open the main CF Forums page and can't scroll down through CTS, STS, Seville, Deville, Northstar Performance, Member Introductions, Site News ???????? Something's fishy.
Look up at the page top - is there a "Cadillac Owner's Group" underlined at the top left ?? That's the link to the whole enchilada. txbest1980 11-07-09, 08:55 PM i know how to get to it...it is just when i try to click on it, the page gives me an error message RightTurn 11-07-09, 10:42 PM What browser are you using? What's the page error you get? jimmy...i have PM'd a mod and have had no response...i have even PM'd you about something before and never got a response...
If that is true, I apologize. I try to be responsive. I don't remember getting a pm from you, but it is likely I forwarded it to an admin.
One thing you have to realize is that if there is an issue with the forum itself, only an admin can take care of that. Mods (and supermods) can only deal with issues like posts needing to be modified, moving threads, dealing with problem members, etc.
In the case of this particular problem, there is only one person who can fix this issue, and that is Sal. And he has alot on his plate. He is still trying to solve the whole security token thing. And while I am no vbulletin expert, I have researched the issue; the only surefire way to solve it would be to uninstall EVERY SINGLE ADDON. Then reinstall them one at a time to see which one is causing the problem. That would take ALOT of time, and might not even yield a result. And surely would remove alot of nice features of this forum that we all take for granted.
Moral of the story; be patient everyone. Sal will get it worked out. Eventually. :D txbest1980 11-08-09, 12:54 AM What browser are you using? What's the page error you get?
internet explorer txbest1980 11-08-09, 01:01 AM jimmy...i am being very patient, i really am in no rush. i started this whole thread just to see how many people in the CTS forum was having this problem also, as you can see if you read thru this whole thread i cant actually get to this section to actually know that anybody else was having this problem... submariner409 11-08-09, 04:03 PM txbest1980, Download and install the new version of Mozilla Firefox. Take a while to configure the browser to your likes and dislikes. When you start populating your History and Favorites (Mozilla Bookmarks) set the Tools/Options to either retain or delete your preferences when you close the browser. You may grow to like Firefox more than IE 7 or 8.
If you're currently running IE with a Norton/Symantec program for virus/spam you may find a lot of stuff is blocked unless you go into the Norton and remove some filters. no worries, that is why I am telling you that many, many people are also having this problem. It seems there are some folks who still have their photo albums intact. Not sure why. But considering how few people actually use this feature, I dont think it is going to be possible to figure out who lost this feature, and why they did. It will just have to wait until Sal upgrades vbulletin itself. submariner409 11-08-09, 04:11 PM JimmyH, A real quickie indicator of album problems is when you click on your album logo and no "Cover Page" picture shows in the window to the left of your album name. BUT, if you go to Photo Albums in the blue bar, find your album in the pages, click on it, everything works except your login (as in submariner409) does not show up in the link at the lower toolbar/tray: an album sequence number is there instead, so I assume that route is in fact a different link from the icon link in a member's avatar/login header. this is what I get, and lot of other people are too
http://cooleywire.com/jimmyh/pics/misc/album.jpg submariner409 11-08-09, 07:21 PM Yep, that's it - one click past the "........a-albums........." in the link. If you click on a00783's Profile you get a reference to a member who joined many years back....Hmmmmmmmmm - can't get there now. txbest1980 11-08-09, 09:44 PM when you go into the member's list a00783 is not there....hhhmmmm
i will try the Firefox browser as well... Firefox is, overall, the fastest and most reliable browser I have used. Safari seems to render pages faster, but there is always a connection lag that annoys me. txbest1980 11-10-09, 08:31 PM i have been using firefox for a few days now, and i must say it is definitely something i have to get use too. is it just my computer or does ya'lls load the page then blinks right quick? i have never had my computer do this while using internet explorer and i need to know if this is normal or not. submariner409 11-10-09, 11:07 PM Firefox does a "blinks right quick" as it checks the add-ons and picture URL's for malware and viruses. txbest1980 11-11-09, 01:48 AM ah-okay...so it suppose to do that... I get that at some websites, but not here. Lord Cadillac 11-13-09, 02:28 PM i believe it all started when that damn twitter thing came up on the sides of our screen that everybody hated
It happened at that time exactly. When a piece of software was upgraded, that Twitter feature came along as a pre-installed option. I disabled it. However, the upgrade messed-up the photo album links - which are not a part of vBulletin - but an "after market" option. The new installation of vBulletin 4 will fix many of our issues (including the security token problem) but we'll likely be missing a few features until they're updated to be compatible with the new software. I have a feeling the photo album links will not be available at first anyway... wow, Sal lives. What up big dog? txbest1980 11-14-09, 05:51 AM thanks Sal, great info... | |
