I bought a set of CTS 17x7.5" 7-spokes because they are not chrome like the Seville or Olds Final 500 wheels. The ones I got have a few minor blemishes. So before I try anything like metal polish, I figured I should find out if they are clearcoated or not? I would have to guess that they are to "seal" the polished finish. But they don't really look painted. Are they?

Here's my car with them installed:

im thinking they are aswell, as aluminum will oxidize and turn a tarnished-grey colour

Nice car; good color.
Thanks!

Also, I believe they are clearcoated. I figured I'd try a mild paint polish first, and it worked fine. But also, there was no blackish tarnish removed like if it was exposed aluminum.

They're clearcoated - the first areas to bubble will be at the center cap opening. I bought a set for my Seville TS as my "midnight road runner" wheels - had them Magnafluxed, trued, soda blasted inside and mounted/Road Forced with Pirelli maximum performance summer tires.

Polish the clearcoat with a paint kit from www.customchemicalpkg.com. Either online or at large parts houses.
