2007 STS with original nav installed. If I get the update to the nav firmware will it effect the lockpick. Don't want anything to bother that sucker, works too good. Dealer will install firmware update free but they don' know or care to know anything about lockpicks. I am updating nav firmware not installing new navigation disk. My understanding is I can't use new nav disk until I update firmware anyway.
Please advise. Thanks

It wont mess with anything. I have had it done and my lockpick works great.

Does anyone know if there are nav firmware updates for 05 sts that would be great if possible.

The nav frimware updates are for all STSs. Just ask your dealer which version firmware update disc they have. If they only have one of the older ones like a 2006 or 2007 see if they can order a newer one. The first disc of each part number is free to the dealership. Then $50 after that.

There is another recent thread about NAV firmware updates that says the firmware version a member just got upgraded to and ewill3rd (caddy tech) said it is the newest.

Nav firmware upgrade is not required to use newer Nav disks. It didn't affect my wife's 2007 or my 2006.

Some 2008's were sold without the upgrade. I think most had it.

I dont think he was asking anything to do with NAV disks.

The firmware update does just that it updates the firmware. Firmware is the basic software that tells the NAV what to do and how to do it. Its kinda like a BIOS for a PC.

According to the TSB that was issued reguarding the NAV firmware update it says it fixes (or attempts to fix) issues with the bluetooth, voice recognition, and changes a few menu options around.

I still have the old firmware on my Nav and when I go in for service for a bad seatbelt I will have them update it. Only change I am looking forward to is the memory setting changess. With the old firmware its a pain in the ass since if I use my wifes key its a pain to get my saved settings.
