View Full Version : Ferrari California submariner409 11-06-09, 09:19 AM Get to www.foxnews.com and scroll down the center of the page to the news pictures and info - take a look at the new Ferrari California - it looks like a Ferrari. Incredible - an automatic with only 3 buttons: AUTO, R, and LAUNCH. (Paddle flippers, too.) Carbon ceramic progressive brakes keyed to the transmission for high-rpm downshifts in braking SPORT mode. DOHC V-8, 454 hp, 6-speed auto, 0-60 in 3.8, 8,000 rpm redline. Kiss your credit card. Ferrari and California two words that bring fond memories! concorso 11-06-09, 02:25 PM Its allready into its 2nd model year...not exactly new any more. :) It also has a 7 spd double clutch automated manual, not a 6 spd automatic. First ferrari ever with a front-mounted V8! Rodya234 11-06-09, 02:37 PM It reminds me the Daytona. I like the (relative) simplicity of the California, but the new 458 Italia may just be my new favorite car of all time.

Watching him take that 458 down that Italian country road just gave me new meaning to life. I love how it's lower and more sinister looking than the 360 and 430..it looks more cynical, evil. Like a half mix between a 430 and a Gallardo Superleggera.
Now, regarding the California, I definitely like it, but the rear end looks odd. It just doesn't add up. Still though, I wouldn't kick it out of my garage for leaking oil. the recluse 11-07-09, 12:11 AM That California looks like they squished a Ferrari, Porshe Boxster, and a Lexus together... concorso 11-07-09, 12:27 PM Watching him take that 458 down that Italian country road just gave me new meaning to life. Still though, I wouldn't kick it out of my garage for leaking oil.I think the 458 is ugly, and Id take a ZR1 over it...or an LP560. But you cant argue with the performance. And according to that test review, someone has finally gotten a double clutch 'box right! submariner409 11-07-09, 03:19 PM Bounce the new California off some of the 60's and 70's front-engined V-12's and see if you don't agree there are styling similarities. thebigjimsho 11-07-09, 04:57 PM Hey, Porsche did it with the Cayenne. Sell out and watch the $$$ pour in. A Ferrari for the spoiled little debutantes... It's those spoiled little debutantes that make high end sports cars available and somewhat affordable to the rest of us! Stingroo 11-07-09, 09:22 PM Porsche is killing the Cayenne soon though. I agree that the new California greatly resembles the V-!2 roadsters of the late 1950's early 1960's, particuarly the 250 GT based cars of which the V-12 Californias of yore were based. Those cars (Ferris Buehler's Holiday) have become among the most sought after Ferrari road cars. By the way, Chad, the rear ends of those cars left a bit to be desired also. Ah, that's what cruised by me on the 101 this morning! Spittin Game 11-09-09, 05:29 PM No Ferrari will ever touch the looks of the F430 Spider. Stingroo 11-09-09, 06:34 PM Really? I think the 458 looks miles better than the F430 in any form. lol I~LUV~Caddys8792 11-09-09, 07:48 PM Me too. I read feature about the 458 Italia in the new issue of Top Gear today, if I have time later I'll scan it. | |
