anyone have experience with SERVICE STABILTRAK SOON message? What's normally wrong, cost to repair etc on 2006 DTS. Has been doing for a few days. Comes on after I've driven car about 3 minutes. Thanks

Really hard to answer, without knowing the codes it is setting.
If you have OnStar...push the button and ask them what codes are set...then go from there.

It could be anything from a loose wire to an unplugged connection to a complete module going bad.

Have you had any tire or suspension work done on it lately?
Maybe new tires or an alignment?
If an alignment...they may have knocked a connector loose.

This error message is a result of a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) being set. Whether or not there is actually a problem with the suspension remains to be seen. Reset the code and if it comes back right away then there is probably a problem. Otherwise, ignore it. I have seen this message a few times on the many Cadillacs I have owned, but it always proved to be a glitch. Resetting the code will get rid of the message.

One misty morning (not a porn star), when the streets were slightly wet, my CTS DIC told me to check anti-lock brakes and stabilitrak. Fortunately, it was a fluke. Message never came back; disappeared by itself too.

Haven't had a problem on my DTS. But did get a service stability system message on my 300C one time. Turned out to be a steering wheel position sensor going bad. Was covered under warranty so can't comment on the cost.

When my 06 DTS was a little newer I would get several different electronic gremlins that would appear and then disappear mysteriously. Interior lights on the bottom of front doors was one oddity. They would occasionally (rarely) stay on when they should turn off while driving. And then be fine next time I started the car.

Door locks wouldn't properly operate with remote occasionally. Then they work fine after stopping and restarting the car later. The ABS and Service Stabilitrak lights were one of these mysteries, too. They would come on and then disappear after a few miles or after I turned the car off and restarted later.

No problems any longer with any of these occasional annoyances now at 35K miles. Weird.

Happened twice on my 2006, and so far once on my 2008. Takes about 20 minutes to replace, always covered under warranty, tech said it happens frequently. Wonder if Cadillac and Chrysler use the same system??
I'm currently seeing "SERVICE LANE DEPARTURE SYSTEM" even though I only used on the day I picked up the car and its been off ever since. Not having any other problems, and not using the system, I'll have it checked at my next oil change.
