I am in process of installing a dvd oem navigation on my 2003 cadillac cts that I just bought today from auto wreckers in ontario, toronto. Will make sure to take loads of pictures step by step for forums members for future installation. Does anybody know where would I be able to find the vss wire from and how do I tap in? I read the faq several times but couldnt understand the tapping part. I already have got the cd and the antenna. I paid around $298.00 cad incl tax for the navigation (came with the cd) and $105.00 incl tax for the antenna. Does that price sound reasonable to you guys?

Picture is from the junkyard car!
Buttons are all chipped out :( gotta replace them asap

The easiest place is right behind the gauge cluster. According to my tech sheet, it's brown.

There are two plastic covers on top of your steering wheel. You want to remove the one that is closest to the cluster, very easy to pop off. It's just pressed on. Then there are two bolts that you will see at the bottom of the cluster, either 8 or 10mm. Then for the top part, best thing to use is a paint stirrier. There are three "teeth" that are about a inch or so thick. So you'll need to get the cluster to clear it's teeth from the upper part of the car.

The plug that is in the cluster has a lever that you pull and push from one side to the other. Then look for the brown wire. If I remember correctly, there is a brown with white. So just make sure that you grabbed the right one.

Yes, I have read your post above and found the brown wire behind the cluster. My questions once agian was where do I find the wire that connects INTO brown vss wire and then connectes into the nav. Does that make any sense ?

So you need a wire from the brown wire, from the gauge cluster, to the wire on the navi unit. Just use a couple feet of small gauge wire. 20 to 22 gauge would be fine.
Just make sure that you splice into the brown wire properly. In other words. Cut the wire, strip both ends. And with your added wire, strip that end and twist all three together. If you have solider, that is even better. Then of course use electrical tape to cover.
