Hey everyone! I just bought my Cadillac today and I love it, however I have a question that you guys might be able to help me out with. My drivers side front brake smells like it is burning and it turns out that it is not releasing all the time. From what Ive been able to piece together, combined with the fact that it has an extremely high idle, I believe it is a vaccum problem with the Power Booster. It doesnt pull at all in either direction and the brakes are new. Any suggestions?

The caliper slide pins need to be cleaned and regreased with silicone brake grease or replaced if all rusty.
The booster vacuum is unlikely to affect the caliper piston... most likely is that the caliper is sticking on something down there local
Simply clamp off the hose to the booster with a pair of vise grips, does the idle lower? If not, the booster's OK. caliper slide pins rarely get cleaned and regreased in a driveway brake job. The pins will bind and not allow the caliper to slide back when the pedal's released. In rare cases I've seen restricted rubber brake hoses at the caliper which restrict fluid flow back when the pedal's released. Hard to verify the hose except to apply the brake, release the pedal and see if the rotor is hard to rotate. If it is, crack open the bleed screw, if it now spins easier, the hose is restricted. Remove each front caliper pin one at a time on BOTH sides, clean them on a wire brush, lube them and reinstall and I'll bet the problems fixed.
The flexable brake lines could be colapsing and not letting the fluid pressure relese when you take your foot off the brake.
Sorry I didn't read the post above mine.
